The game follows the story of Sebastian Castellenos, a detective who gets caught up in a grotesque, supernatural world while investigating a mass murder.  The Evil Within aims to return to the fundamentals of the survival horror genre, a genre that Shinji Mikami helped pioneer with the original Resident Evil, by balancing action with tension-filled puzzle-solving. So get ready to be scared this October, when The Evil Within lands on PC and PlayStation/Xbox consoles.

Ghostwire's plot isn't the only aspect of the game still shrouded in mystery, however. A lot of behind-the-scenes details have shifted with this title, making solid information about it hard to pin down. We've pulled together all the facts we have about this upcoming survival horror title and give our best estimates on what has yet to be revealed.

Resident Evil Village

Judging by its latest demo, Resident Evil Village might be the biggest departure for the horror franchise yet. The new 30-minute gameplay snippet hints at a more open, action-packed take on the series that’s more first-person shooter than survival horror.

Resident Evil purists might be disappointed to hear that. When Resident Evil 7 launched in 2017, it was praised as a return to the franchise’s roots. It traded in the Hollywood gunplay of previous installments for tense exploration and big jump scares. While the new game doesn’t quite feel like a return to the much-maligned Resident Evil 6 so far, it’s clear that it’s charting a new course for the series.

The best video game remasters of all time
the legend of zelda wind waker brings back memories only shinier hd 01

There can be a bit of confusion when it comes to determining what qualifies as a video game remake and what is a remaster. Typically, any game that is ported to a new console with some visual improvements and quality of life features added without any major changes to the core systems or mechanics is considered a remaster. Remakes, on the other hand, rebuild the entire game from the ground up with new assets, models, and even content in some cases. Things have gotten a bit more confusing as of late, with plenty of remasters looking like remakes, and some remakes calling themselves remasters. Remasters remain the best way to relive classic games from older video game consoles on modern hardware. We cut through all that confusion to craft a definitive list of the best video game remasters of all time.
