GTA Online’s Heists are delayed, but still coming

Fans were disappointed when the most recent GTA Online update did not include any mention of the long-awaited cooperative Heists that had been promised for a spring update, but Rockstar wants you to know that the dev team has not forgotten.

In a comment on its Newswire post for the “I’m Not a Hipster” Update, a Rockstar spokesperson apologized for the delay, admitting that the Online Heists were taking long than anticipated to get right. The admission came with expressions of gratitude for their fans’ continued support and an assurance that work continues on the promised feature.

Rockstar also took the opportunity to announce that Social Club members will be treated to a special “I’m Not a Hipster” Event Weekend of bonus challenges and exclusive t-shirts to celebrate the new content patch.

We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support. Our most anticipated video games of 2025: GTA 6, Metroid Prime 4, and more

On a personal note, 2024 was one of my favorite years for video games in recent memory. It may not have been filled with giant franchise sequels, but it was loaded with surprises that made for an eclectic year. If all goes according to plan, that's going to change in 2025. And that's something I didn't even realize until I sat down to write this list of Digital Trends' most anticipated games of 2025.

While only a handful of big games have release dates currently, publishers have some major releases slated to release at some point in 2025. That's, of course, headlined by Grand Theft Auto 6, but there's so much beyond that (so long as delays don't derail plans). And this is all before factoring in the Nintendo Switch 2's impending launch, which will undoubtedly fill the year with some top-tier games that are currently a deep secret. It's difficult to narrow a "most anticipated" list down to just 10 games this year, but I've done my best here. These are the games that should be on your radar in 2025 -- at minimum!

3 new PS Plus games you should play this weekend (November 22-24)

This week, we finally got a massive batch of new games added to the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra game catalogs. It's a fantastic bunch of titles, thanks to the inclusion of some AAA heavy hitters like Grand Theft Auto V, as well as great retro classics, and even some standout indies. As there's a wealth of games to choose from, you might be having some trouble deciding which ones to check out first. I'd start with any of these three titles, which are all among the best games on PS Plus.
Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V needs little introduction, as it's one of the most iconic and bestselling video games ever. If you haven't played it before, know that this is one of the most entertaining open-world games ever made, with a strong main story about three men drawn back into a life of crime. On top of that, there's its nearly infinite online mode. Whether you're concerned with actually completing missions or just want to drive around and mess with the citizens of Los Santos, GTA V offers some of the most fun sandbox gaming available. Grand Theft Auto VI is poised to release sometime in 2025, so now is the perfect time to revisit the last GTA title to better understand the high bar GTA 6 and every other future release from Rockstar Games will need to live up to.

Grand Theft Auto Trilogy developer is not happy about this change in latest update

The poorly received Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy -- The Definitive Edition got a surprise and much-needed update earlier this week, but not everybody is happy with the results. After the update went live on PC and consoles, fans noticed quickly that Grove Street Games, the studio that developed Definitive Edition with Rockstar Games, had been removed from the splash screen ahead of the start menu. Now Grove Street CEO Thomas Williamson has spoken out on X about the situation.

"Speaking entire hypothetically: It's a [jerk] move to remove primary developers from credits in an update, especially when an update includes hundreds of fixes that were provided by those developers that stayed out of players' hands for years," Williamson wrote.
