Neverwinter Nights 2 Comes to Stores

Game publisher Atari has announced that Neverwinter Nights 2 has shipped to U.S. retailers. The game, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, takes role-players back to the embattled city of Neverwinter, set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, and offers extensive new single-player play with deep character development and powerful new features to let players create their own universes, quests, and stories.

“Obsidian has delivered an outstanding sequel to one of the most beloved RPGs of all time,” said Nique Fajors, Atari’s VP of sales and marketing. “Neverwinter Nights 2 offers a deeply satisfying role-playing experience and a robust toolset that together will extend the life of the Neverwinter tales and bring more members to the community.”

The first Neverwinter Nights game boasts a large fan community, having sold more than two million copies worldwide, with translations into ten languages.

Neverwinter Nights 2 is available for Windows and rated T for “Teen” by the ESRB. The standard edition is priced at $49.95, while a limited edition is priced at $59.95 and includes a cloth map of in-game locations, exclusive in-game content, a new “Blessed of Waukeen” feat, a unique weapon, and other extras.

How to turn off those pesky Epic Games Store achievement pop-ups in Alan Wake 2
Saga fights off a Taken in Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2 is out today, and it's already shaping up to be one of 2023's most talked-about games. Launching to high critical acclaim, it's currently available for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. If you plan on playing it on PC, though, you'll have to do so through the Epic Games Store, as it's not available on Steam. If you're unfamiliar with the platform or haven't played many games through it, here's something you'll want to do before starting: get rid of the app's obnoxious achievement notifications.

Like most platforms, Epic Games Store has its own achievement system. Whenever you clear one in a game, you'll get a big banner at the top of the screen and a loud, cloying ding accompanying it. That's easy to live with in a game with a handful of achievements, but considering that Alan Wake 2 has 66, you'll be seeing it a lot if you leave it on. The survival horror game is a maste rclass in atmosphere, so that ding can be a real mood killer in its most dramatic moments.

Overwatch 2 is coming to Steam, and more Blizzard games may soon be on the way
Kiriko in Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that Overwatch 2 will make its way to Steam on August 10, the same day its next season, titled Invasion, begins.

Overwatch 2 has been available on PC since its October 4, 2022, early access launch, but until now players had to download Blizzard's proprietary launcher, Battle.net, in order to play it. Although players will still need a Battle.net account that they can connect to Steam to play the game online, Overwatch 2 will be fully integrated into Valve's popular launcher, with support for things like achievements, compatibility with Steam friends lists, and Steam game invites. This launch is also timed to happen alongside the start of Season 6: Invasion, which will introduce the first batch of PvE story missions to the game.

One-shot snipers are coming back to Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 for Season 3
Characters shooting enemies in Warzone 2.0.

The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 Season 3 will include a long-requested feature that fans have been clamoring for. The update will feature the return of one-shot snipers, which have been absent from Warzone 2.0 since its launch (with a couple of temporary exceptions here and there). Activision shared the news via a blog post, which featured more details about what to expect from the upcoming season.

Previously, it would take at least two shots to down a fully-plated enemy in Warzone 2.0, which effectively rendered snipers useless. Since the game's launch in November 2022, a large portion of the community has requested that one-shot snipers be added back into the game. Activision's blog gives a bit of detail about what to expect from the chance.
