MTV has announced is will make good on its promise to offer full albums for use with its popular Rock Band video game: beginning next week, the game will begin offering albums that can be played along with the game. First up: Screaming for Vengeance, the widely-known 1982 album by Brit metal band Judas Priest, featuring the band’s radio hit "You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’." Coming in May: the 1980 self-titleds debut album from The Cars. June will bring the album Doolittle from alternative darlings The Pixies.
Albums will cost $14.99, with individual songs from the albums also available at $1.99 each. Screaming for Vengeance will hit Microsoft’s Xbox Live service April 22, and Sony’s PlayStation 3 online store on April 24.
Rock Band had initially planned to lead off its full album offerings with Who’s Next by The Who when the fame was announced in mid-2007. There’s no word when (or if) Who’s Next will hit Rock Band. Rock Band currently offers more than 140 tracks for use with the game, and is credited with more than 8 million song downloads since the game launced in November 2007.
