For the last five years or so, Mophie has been building some rather lovely looking battery cases for smartphones, keeping them juiced up for extended periods and enabling users go about their day without having to worry about the location of the nearest power socket.

Things, however, have just got a lot more interesting. The company has unveiled the Space Pack at CES on Tuesday, a product that not only keeps your device’s battery powered for longer, but also boosts its storage capacity.

Designed for the iPhone 5S/5 and available in 16GB and 32GB flavors, the Space Pack is an all-new product that means no more deleting old photos to make space for new ones, no more running out of entertainment on long flights, and no longer having to rely on a data connection to access your cloud-based files and documents.

Now, you might be thinking, “This sounds great, but it’s probably the size of a brick.” However, a cursory glance at the image above reveals it adds hardly anything to the profile of your device. In fact, it looks almost identical in size to its range of battery-only cases. We don’t currently have any information on its weight, though of course it’s going to feel a little heavier in the hand with the extra tech inside.

Daniel Huang, co-founder of Santa Ana, California-based Mophie, said he wanted to design a product “that enables iPhone users to truly enhance their experience by solving some of the core limitations of smartphones.”

He added, “With an iPhone case that provides the charging solution and low-profile protective design expected from Mophie, we’ve taken the next step and developed an entirely new category, pushing the increasing trend toward mobile computing even further.”

Mophie’s free ‘Space’ app allows you to easily manage the files stored on the Space Pack, providing a “familiar-feeling, local file management experience.”

You can use the Space Pack to back up your Camera Roll images and video, while music and movies stored in the pack can be played back via the app. The device comes with AirPlay and AirDrop support, and can handle any file type, all of which can be managed through the app or computer.

The Space Pack seems like a great step up from your regular battery case, and Mophie has cleverly crammed the tech into a case that doesn’t leave your iPhone looking bulky.

It’s available for pre-order at mophie.com for $150 (16GB) and $180 (32GB), and ships from March 14, 2014.

Gurman says waning iPhone SE stock could point to a new model
A close-up of the iPhone 14 Pro's camera module.

In the most recent release of his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman — an Apple analyst and journalist — claims the rapidly shrinking stock of iPhone SE is a sign that a new model is just around the corner. The iPhone SE 4 has been the subject of numerous rumors and leaks, and experts have estimated a release window between March and April 2025.

Gurman's observation that stock is running low at locations across the country is a good indication that a new release is imminent; otherwise, the supply would be a lot steadier and more consistent. And though the current iPhone SE is still available for purchase through the Apple Store, a release in the next few months would give the iPhone SE 4 a release date that matches the other SE models before it.

How thin will the iPhone 17 Air be? A new report might have the answer
The Action button on the iPhone 16.

Since the first whispers of the Apple iPhone 17 Air floated across our desks, we've been on the hunt for more information. Just how exactly does the rumored ultra-thin iPhone fit into the company's existing lineup? Recent information suggests it might be a way to test the public reception of a slimmer phone before the launch of Apple's folding phone, and now we have an idea of exactly how thin the iPhone 17 Air is meant to be.

The iPhone 17 Air could be as slim as 5.5mm, according to a new report from Ming-Chi Kuo. Mark Gurman corroborates this theory in his Power On! newsletter, stating that the iPhone 17 Air is a step toward making the chassis as thin as possible. Even if the iPhone 17 Air is in no way related to the rumored foldable, though, it's still going to leave other devices in the dust. Right now, the iPhone 6 holds the record for Apple's thinnest model at 6.9mm, so the iPhone 17 Air will be a major reduction in size.

This new Belkin accessory transforms your iPhone into a digital camera
The Belkin Stage PowerGrip attached to an iPhone.

The iPhone has a powerful camera built-in, but what if you could turn it into a proper digital camera that can keep you snapping Ansel Adams-worthy pictures all day long? Belkin's newest accessory promises to do just that, and we really hope it works. The Stage Power Grip is a more ergonomically designed accessory that helps you take great shots while reducing shake, and it's just been announced at CES 2025.

Belkin hopes to release the Stage Power Grip sometime in May, but that date isn't set in stone (nor is the price). It functions as both a button to take pictures and a grip to help you keep a steady hand. It attaches to your iPhone via MagSafe and includes a 10,000mAh power bank, too. There's also a built-in USB-C cable for charging other devices (as well as your iPhone, if needed).
