Nokia Hits a Stylistic High Note with 7205 Intrigue

Nokia Hits a Stylistic High Note with 7205 Intrigue

There’s only so much you can do to dress up a classic clamshell cell phone. But as Nokia proved at this year’s CTIA, there’s also always room for improvement.

The Nokia 7205 Intrigue, a phone we already profiled when it was first announced, proved to be just as agreeable in real life as in Nokia’s packet of glossy press photos. It’s slim, slippery, and just distinctive enough to draw eyes without turning into a spectacle.

When closed, the Intrigue appears to have no external screen at all, but pressing a button on the side illuminates the hidden OLED display on the back side of the lid, which is as bright and practical as it is huge. There’s no way you’ll have to do a double-take to see the time with this thing, even in bright sunlight.

The hinge on the Intrigue protrudes somewhat unusually from the end of the closed phone, but opening it brings the two halves of the phone together around the circular hinge nearly without a seam. It’s an interesting design choice, we just hope it doesn’t result in any accidentally pinched fingers.

Inside, the pink or grey gradient (Nokia makes the Intrigue in two colors) stands out without becoming distracting, and the phone’s long shape really gives it some stature in the open position.

At $130 with a two-year contract, there’s no question that it falls on the pricy end of the clamshell spectrum, but we suspect those who are lured in by its good looks won’t have all that much of a problem shelling out a little more for the design.

Nokia’s ‘3-day’ phone battery struggles to last the weekend
The Nokia G11's camera module.

“Three-day battery life. A long-lasting battery and more processing power to take you through the weekend.” These are the exact words on Nokia’s website for the Nokia G11, and a serious selling point for the cheap Android phone. But is it an accurate statement? I’ve spent nearly a week with the G11 to find out, and unfortunately, it seems Nokia may be overselling the phone’s capabilities.
Three-day battery?
The claim comes with a caveat on Nokia’s website, but rather than undersell the statement, the clarification at the bottom of the page gives you even more confidence the G11’s 5,050mAh battery will make short work of a long weekend. It states:

“The three-day battery testing was conducted using a real-life usage test by HMD Global. The test included active usage of a device for five hours per day with a new battery. Usage included gaming, video streaming, calling, sending SMS, browsing, and using apps such as social media, news, navigation, and music. The test was conducted with normal device settings in a lit indoor environment. The device was left on standby overnight.”

The best Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus cases and covers
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is a beast of a smartphone, combining strong flagship specifications with a versatile triple-lens camera. The design is similarly top-notch, with glass curving almost seamlessly into the aluminum frame — but in some ways, the Note 10 Plus' great beauty is its biggest weakness. The glass body is beautiful, but if it takes a tumble, it can shatter and crack. No one wants that to happen, and that's why a protective case is an excellent idea.

Protect your day from going to pieces by checking out the best cases for your phone. We've gathered some of the top cases from the best manufacturers to bring you a list of the best Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus cases around.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus vs. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: Camera clash
Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus camera module.

The budget segment is getting more competitive with each passing day in Europe and Asia due to the presence of Chinese brands. Xiaomi's Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus is the latest entrant in the Note lineup, which is known for providing high-end features on a budget. The latest phone is no different. It packs a 120Hz AMOLED display, 108-megapixel camera, 67-watt fast charging and starts at approximately $237 (converted from Indian rupees).

But how good is the 108MP camera? Does it offer anything or is it just there to make the device look good on paper? To find out, I compared the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 108MP camera results with the industry-leading Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra's 108MP camera. In terms of pricing, it's night and day. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at $1,199, almost six times more than the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus.
