Blackberry OS 6.0 Announced For Summer Debut

During an analyst meeting today, Research In Motion co-chief Mike Lazaridis debuted a new teaser for the upcoming Blackberry OS 6.0 due out later this summer. The video features several big upgrades, but the biggest news may be that older Blackberries will be able to upgrade.

The new OS will feature several improvements, including a media player with album art, a YouTube app, a better library with improved search features for stored pictures, and upgrade calendar and meeting features.

The OS will also featured a web browser with tabbed browsing with pinch-to-zoom functionality, and more fluid support for social networking apps. The new OS will also support a new touchscreen interface that allows “flick gesturing” to scroll through menus.
