BlackBerry Apps

Here are the top Blackberry applications currently out there that work great with the Storm, Tour, Bold, Curve and more!

Why should iPhone users have all the fun? Though Apple likes to trot out stats about its ballooning app store every month or so (100,000 at latest count), BlackBerry App World has its own growing library of third-party apps, and it’s not clogged up with quite as many fart machines and virtual lighters, either. We dug out 25 of our personal favorites across five different categories to highlight the very best BlackBerry developers have to offer.

  1. seasonmgmt at 6:50pm 8th March 2011 Everyone has been writing about the original Contacts Cleaner app - by Beaver Creek Consulting. I actually picked up a book about the best apps by the Dummies series and it's on page 30. Additionally, RIM listed these guys as having one of the best Blackberry Apps. The app removes the dupes in your address book. You will instantly find that finding someone is much easier. It's not a nice to have; it's a must have.

  6. Billy at 6:19pm 10th November 2010 all the BB apps suck. I do have to admit the only thing the BB excels in is email and security, other then that, the apps are BY FAR WAAAY behind compared to iphone or andriod. It is an email phone.
  7. Shash Anand at 8:24pm 6th November 2010 Has anyone heard of SOTI Pocket Controller-Pro for BlackBerry? It allows you to remote control your BlackBerry from your PC / laptop over WiFi or USB. I use it mainly to do BBM from my desktop, but it has a number of cool features that I'm sure some people can't live without. Unfortunately, it's not free but is quite usefull.

If i try and dowlaod anything free or otherwise, my emailaddress pops up requesting a password. Once I put in the password, the agreement comes up and I accept, the screen reverts back to the email address, requesting that I put in a password again. I been to the MTN shops but they cannot help. I must have called the call centre but they also cann't help. Can somebody please help. I am going crazy.
    1. moz at 11:37am 17th October 2010 hey ricki i had same problem all i did was uninstall blackberry app world then downloaded it again it worked fine after!!!
  11. ZenEmu at 5:31am 1st September 2010 To be honest, I think this article just highlights how far behind other smart phones RIM are with applications. Blackberry is a difficult and poorly supported format to develop for and RIM don't really seem to care or want to do anything about it as they are comfortable with the corporate market and don't really seem to want to delve into the public market for fear of going up against Apple, Google and MS.
  12. MAc at 9:41pm 20th August 2010 i have a blackberry 9700 bold.. i think that blackberry could have better apps. an more good free one.. FACEBOOK sucks on the blackberry why is there KNOW IM messageing on facebook LIKE IPHONE?????

  13. niche at 10:52pm 19th July 2010 i was wondering where you got that android theme from in the screenshot and the name of it if possible -thanks a bunch
  14. App_Reviewer at 8:54pm 15th July 2010 I think this site could use a bit of revision, hard to review the apps here
  15. doug, BB owner at 8:48pm 25th June 2010 why is it that you hardly hear about garbage from iphones
    1. App_Reviewer at 8:58pm 15th July 2010 haha, the apps on iphone are way more basic, in my opinion. and the iphone is just a basic device, unlike the blackberry, i'm just saying. plus you cant get the coolest apps like Google Goggles and My911 on blackberry, which are not available on the iphone. I'd say blackberry apps are almost always better, if not just as good.
    2. mr. allen at 11:45pm 23rd July 2010 because nobody will admit that they overpaid for a phone that theyll probably break within three months. it wasnt hard for apple to take an ipod (which is made for such apps and usage), and pretty much just add another app if you will that allows you to make calls and text. i cant say its garbage, but i mean who really needs a digital lighter???. for those apps that are actually worth using, blackberry can compete all day. gps, music, youtube, twitter, google, yellowpages etc... plus, besides all the hype about the iphone 4, when do you really hear ANYBODY say ANYTHING about an iphone? i think everyone is pretty much over it and i honestly think anyone who goes and buys it wont necessarily be disappointed, but i mean once youve seen one iphone you have seen em all. at least with blackberry you have different phone designs, and they are way more durable as well.
  16. janetlowenstein at 5:38am 15th May 2010 RIM's new list of best Blackberry Apps includes Contacts Cleaner, the Sierra Club app, CBS Sports app and a barbeque app. http://www.berryreview.com/2010/04/13/rim-app-p...
  17. Chloe Mullen at 3:49pm 6th May 2010 RIM, the makers of the Blackberry, just came out with a list:1) Contacts Cleaner - merges your entries in your address book 2) the Sierra Club App - food ideas for hikes 3) Sports App - created by CBS
  18. Me at 8:34pm 26th April 2010 The Wall Street Journal has a great app that includes a feed reader in addition to their great content.
  19. Ian Bell at 3:54pm 26th April 2010 I use Pandora constantly on my Bold 9700
  20. traveltips at 10:22pm 11th April 2010 in my oponion ÜberTwitter is the best one
  21. karenlcjones at 8:50am 12th March 2010 Is there a market for call recording in the consumer space? We have just launched a corporate BlackBerry Call recording solution (incoming and outgoing calls). http://www.prweb.com/releases/2010/February/prw...
  22. Bosher at 4:37am 6th March 2010 BlackBerry App World has to be one of the biggest rip offs on the planet. The so called 'games' are the worst. Completely unplayable garbage most of them and they are prices 2-3x higher than on the iPhone. There are even apps that clearly do NOTHING but list things like battery and memory usage, most of which you can get by pushing a few buttons anyway. Oh, try out Guitar Hero 5 if you really want to get angry! AWFUL! and it's £7. Go figure.
    1. App_Reviewer at 8:52pm 15th July 2010 There are iPhone apps that literally do nothing, so it's not a big deal. Of course there is going to be those apps, you just don't have to download them!
  23. mittur at 7:26pm 9th February 2010 Folks....take a look at a app called SnapBack....
Has been very useful to me. It automatically reconnects all dropped calls!
completely user friendly and customizable too.
  24. Stevie at 8:50pm 6th February 2010 why are these same iphone apps free and you have to pay for them on blackberry and there not even as good . What a rip off AT&T has crappy perks
  25. Stevie at 8:50pm 6th February 2010 why are these same iphone apps free and you have to pay for them on blackberry and there not even as good . What a rip off AT&T has shittty perks
  26. Al at 12:34pm 13th January 2010 26 pages and clicks? Couldn't you make it any harder to read? Yeesh.
    1. Durkin at 11:54am 7th July 2010 I agree, the structures of these blog posts are stupid. It takes forever to read through the info.
      1. Rob at 4:18pm 15th July 2010 Yea, a flash-based click-through with a preview window at the bottom would've been much easier
        1. bitch at 11:16am 29th October 2010 It's because they're abusive idiots hoping to get rich by disseminating "information" of dubious value and holding it hostage to 1000 ads. I won't bother coming back to this lame site!
    2. Peter Shen at 11:00pm 24th February 2011 I'm with you Al. Seems to me it's to get as much ad space in as possible. Where is the user friendliness?
