There’s a new Equinox coming! No, not the celestial kind … the Chevrolet one

Chevrolet just took the wraps of its new, 2016 Equinox, a car, which the brand is quick to boast, is its second-best selling model in America.

Clad in much more chrome, the Equinox is more than just an extra level of shiny for 2016, it’s also more tech savvy and torquier than before.

Along with the face-lifted front-end, Chevrolet designers have lifted the level of elegance in the cabin as well. A new 7.0-inch Color Touch radio with Bluetooth connectivity is now standard, as is the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

If that weren’t enough tech, Chevy also now offers universal tablet holders, which attach to the back of the front seats, so rear passengers can remain fully engaged in their gadgets.

And to keep the family safe, Chevy also offers Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert safety features on LT and LTZ models.

If you were worried the extra exterior chrome wasn’t coming to the cabin, just wait. There’s also a new chrome-trimmed transmission shifter with Electronic Range Selector mode buttons, which have been relocated to the top of the shifter handle. And all that extra chrome will perfect set off the new ‘Saddle Up’ interior leather color.

Along with the 2016 Equinox’ bright new features, Chevy has also included some powerful motors to match. Chevrolet brags the Equinox’ 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine achieves EPA-estimated 32 mpg on the highway. And its 3.6-liter V6 – producing 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque – is unparalleled by four-cylinder-only competitors, when it comes to towing.

Power is routed out to some snazzy new wheels, too, including New 17-inch aluminum wheels on LT and new 18-inch aluminum wheels on LTZ models and a new available 17-inch wheel optional on LS models.

Pricing will be announced closer to the 2016 Equinox’ on-sale date later in 2015.
