Computer and electronics giant Toshiba has rolled out a spate of new Satellite, Qosmio, and Tecra notebooks featuring Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 processors. The systems run the gamut from budget-friendly systems aimed at both consumers and business to high-performance, media-savvy rigs clearly aimed at the digital entertainment and gaming crowd. And the new systems are coming soon, with Core i7-equipped models landing at retailers as early as January 12, and the Core i3 and i5 models landing on January 17.

“This new family of smart processors will optimize laptop performance by automatically adapting to whatever task you are performing on your PC,” said Toshiba America Information Systems marketing VP Ron Smith, in a statement. “With the addition of Intel’s new processors throughout our line, Toshiba can continue to provide consumers with their choice of the right laptop across an ever widening range of performance levels.”

At the high end, the new Qosmio X505 will be available with either Core i7 or i5 CPUs, Nvidia GeForce 360M graphics, and will support options like multiple 7200 rpm hard drives, a Blu-ray disc drive, “ultrafast” memory, and a top-notch audio system from Harmon Kardon. And then there’s the 18.4-inch LED backlit display with a native 1,920 by 1,080 for full appreciation of high-definition content and games. Toshiba plans to introduce teh Qosmio M505 at just $1,199.99—although, of course, adding options and cranking the horsepower will also increase the price.

Toshib’a Tecra A11 series aims at businesses, and will be available with either Core i3, i5, or i7 CPUs, a 15.6-inch display, optional Nvidia graphics, and Toshiba’s EasyGuard technology to help prevent damage from bumps and spills. Pricing on the Tecra A11s should start at $879.99.

Toshiba’s Satellite U505s aim to be portable, stylish, and powerful, with a 13-inch display, Core i3 or i5 processors, and options including a touch screen and WiMax 4G mobile connectivity—although the units still weigh in at nearly 5 pounds. Expect to see the Satellite U505s starting at $649.99. If a larger screen is more appealing, the Satellite M505s will sport Core i3 processors and a 14-inch display starting at $699.99.

Folks looking for a larger screen might check out the Satellite P505: it sports another 18.4-inch display with either a Core i3 or Core i7 processor, plus Nvidia GeForce 310M graphics, 500 GB of hard drive storage, 4 GB of RAM, and a starting price of $799.99.

toshiba’s new Satellite L505 and L55 series are designed to be all-purpose workhorses, offering Core i3 or i5 processors, large displays (15.6 inches in the L505 and 17.3 inches in the L555) and friendly price tags: the L505s will start at $459.99 and the L555s will start at $649.99. Finally, folks looking for a variety of configuration options might check out the Satellite A505 series, which will be available with a 16-inch display, Core i3, i5, or i7 processors, and Nvidia GeForce graphics options, and an optional Blu-ray drive. Pricing on the A505s will start at $769.99—and, although Toshiba isn’t saying it in a spate of announcements about bringing Intel processors to its notebook lines, the A505 will also be available with AMD Turion Ultra M620 CPUs.

Asus’ latest Zenbook puts a seriously bright OLED screen inside an impossibly slim body
The Zenbook 14 Air is only 11mm thick but still packs a 77Wh battery
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

Asus has introduced a new AMD-powered version of the Zenbook 14 Air 2026, combining a bright OLED display and a large battery inside an 11mm-thick chassis. It weighs 1.19kg, keeping it firmly in ultraportable territory despite the 77Wh battery inside.

The Zenbook 14 Air 2026 itself is not entirely new. Asus launched an Intel configuration powered by the Core Ultra 9 386H in China back in January. The latest version switches to AMD’s Ryzen AI 7 H 445 and is priced at CNY 9,999, or around $1,477. (via Notebookcheck)

Before you blow your student budget, here’s the MacBook that actually suits your major
Confused by the MacBook lineup? I sorted it out so students don't have to
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

Apple’s MacBook lineup has become much broader in 2026. The MacBook Neo brings the entry price down considerably, the M5 MacBook Air remains the obvious all-rounder, and the MacBook Pro covers students whose coursework can push a laptop to its limits.

But with a wide range, choosing one becomes harder. Spending more can bring a better display, faster storage, additional ports, and considerably greater performance. However, plenty of students will never take advantage of those upgrades. So, I have narrowed the current lineup down to three models, each aimed at a distinct kind of buyer.

Qualcomm is set to ratchet up chip prices in September, and your next gadget upgrade could bear the brunt
The price hike could touch every Snapdragon-powered device category.
The new Qualcomm Snadragon 8 Elite Gen 5

I want you to sit with this for a second. Qualcomm, the company whose Snapdragon chips sit inside your Android phone and tablet, your Windows laptop, your Meta smart glasses, your Galaxy Watch, and your wireless earbuds, reportedly sent a letter to every major customer telling them prices are going up by double digits.

The price hike will be in effect from September 1, 2026, a recent Bloomberg report claims. Essentially, all the companies placing their chip orders after that will pay a higher price.
