Pentax Debuts Three New Optio Cameras

Feeling the itch to take some pictures? Pentax has just unveiled three new Optio point-and-shoot cameras designed to appeal to casual photographers…and whether or not you like the new cameras’ looks, you’ll have to admit they’re distinct.

First up, the new Optio I-10 (which will be available in black or white) features a design “inspired buy the classic look of film SLR cameras”—which may or may not be something you were trying to forget. The I-10 features a 12.1 megapixel resolution, 5&tiems; optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD display, and featured mechanical image stabilization for clear shots. The unit also sports smile capture and blink detection technology, and face detection that can spot up to 32 faces in a frame—and that includes dogs and cats. (Just don’t expect to use smile detection with cats.) The I-10 can also capture 720p HD video at 30fps and works with Eye-Fi wireless memory cards; expect to see it in February for a suggested price of $299.95.

Next up, the Optio H90 sports a “functional beauty” design concept…and we kinda hope they got that at least half right with the orange and silver version, thought the white and black don’t strike us quite as oddly. The H90 sports a 12.1 megapixel sensor, a 5× optical zoom, digital image stabilization, and the capability to capture 720p video at 30 fps. The H90 also rolls in Pentax’s face detection, smile capture, and blink detection technology, and it’s compatible with Eye-Fi wireless memory cards; expect to see it in February for a suggested price of $179.95.

Finally, if you’re just looking for an inexpensive camera, the Pentax Optio E90 features a 10 megapixel resolution, 3× optical zoom, and a 2.7-inch LCD display. The E90 also runs on AA batteries (handy on the road when you’re away from wall power), and features digital image stabilization and sensitivity all the way down to ISO 6400 for low-light shots. The E90 should be available next month in red or black for a suggested price of $99.95.

How to remove location data from your iPhone photos
How to transfer photos from an iPhone to an iPhone

We all love making memories, and a great way to collect those memories is to take a quick snap of a gorgeous landscape, a party in full swing, or a particularly incredible meal. The Apple iPhone now also adds a location to your pictures, meaning it can collate those images together into a location-themed album, or show you all the shots you've taken in a specific location. It's a fun little addition, and it's one that adds a lot of personality to the Photos app.
