Casio Debuts Two Exilim Cams With Intelligent Autofocus

Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z90Electronics maker Casio has introduced two new members of its enormous Exilim consumer-friendly camera line, the Exilim Zoom EX-Z450 and EXILIM Zoom EX-Z90. Both cameras feature a 12/1 megapixel resolution and an intelligent autofocus system that augments face-detection technology so de rigeur in consumer cameras today with a tracking system that can latch onto non-human subjets and adjust exposure and focus for great shots. The cameras also boost Casio’s Dynamic Photo Creation function, enabling users to more easily create animated greeting cards and other items by superimposing photos of a moving subject over a still image.

“Casio continues to create cameras that come equipped with high-powered, cutting -edge technologies,” says Casio America’s digital imaging division manager Toshiyuki Iguchi, in a statement. “The two new additions to the Exilim line continue to demonstrate Casio’s commitment to producing quality digital cameras that can be utilized by novice users and professional photographers.”

The EX-Z450 sports a 4× optical zoom lens, a 3-inch LCD display, optical image stabilization, and a battery life that should allow for up to 550 shots on a single charge. The EX-Z90 sports a 3× optical zoom and and will be available in some fashion-oriented colors to appeal to female buyers.

Both cameras sport HD video capability (720p at 24fps), SD/SDHC storage, continuous shutter functions (4 fps on the Z90, up to 10 frames per second at lower resolutions on the Z450), and an integrated mic and speaker.

Expect to see both cameras in October, with the Z90 going for a suggested retail price of $149.99 and the Z450 carrying a suggested $199.99 price tag.
