Netflix mixes some pretty strong Kool-Aid with its thousands-strong on demand library of Watch Instantly movies and TV shows available for streaming. Most of Hollywood has taken a sip already, and now we can add one more convert: Miramax.

The studio announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with the online video service today in a press release. The terms of the deal kick off in June, when “several hundred Miramax movies” are added to the Watch Instantly library, “with dozens of titles being added on a rotating basis.” The financial terms weren’t disclosed, but the studio’s strong catalog will certainly add even more value to your standard Netflix streaming subscription.

The press release notes the stats: the Miramax catalog boasts 248 Academy Award nominations and an impressive 68 wins, spread across 83 of the films. These include Best Picture winners Shakespeare In Love and The English Patient, as well as fan favorites like the collected catalogs of Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith, Good Will Hunting, The Piano, Scream and Spy Kids. The press release also rather awesome mentions Reindeer Games alongside these other titles for some reason.

This actually isn’t the first we’ve heard of a Miramax/Netflix partnership. The possibility was first reported in late March, with a deal rumored to be valued at more than $100 million over a five-year period. This came after the studio’s purchase from Disney by Filmyard Holdings, which is now partnered with The Weinstein Company owners and original Miramax founders Bob and Harvey Weinstein.

The controversial Recall feature has grabbed all the headlines from Microsoft’s Copilot+ announcements yesterday, but this new AI feature is also making Paint relevant again.

It’s called Cocreator, and it’s a new AI feature that can turn your quick sketch, augmented by text, into a much more realistic and impressive image. The exciting thing is that it does all this in real time. It might not get it right the first time, so you'll need patience, and the more details you give about what you want in the image, the better.
