Skype and Polycom this week announced a partnership which will deliver as its first product a co-branded USB speakerphone which uses the latter’s audio technology to reportedly offer more natural voice communications without echoes or feedback. The new Polycom Communicator will be available within the next two months for a price of $129.
The Polycom Communicator, said the two companies, comes in a portable, compact design and connects to a computer via an integrated USB cable. Features include full support for hands-free Skype phone capabilities, secondary functions as a high-fidelity speaker for other PC applications, a built-in stereo headset port and an included carrying case.
“Teaming with Polycom, we can offer Skype business customers high-quality, portable communications solutions, based on proven technology, that can help them extend Skype more broadly into their everyday work environment,” said Henry Gomez, Skype’s general manager for North America, in a statement.
