Acer releases new C720-2848 Chromebook, available for $200 from Best Buy, Amazon today

If you’ve got Chromebook fever, don’t sweat the fact that the HP Chromebook 11 was taken off the market. Acer’s got a new Chromebook that’s even cheaper than HP’s now-pulled offering.

Acer has just announced the C720-2848 Chromebook, which wields an Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell processor, 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display, a 16GB SSD, 2GB of RAM, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and an integrated webcam. It’s also pretty portable, weighing only 2.76-pounds and 0.76-inches of thickness, which makes it easy to carry around. Port selection includes a single USB 3.0 opening, one USB 2.0 connector and an HDMI option for plugging in extra displays. Acer claims 8.5 hours of battery life for the C720-2848.

By snagging an Acer C720-2848, you’ll also be entitled to some extras, namely 100GB of free Google Drive storage for two years and 12 free Gogo Inflight passes, allowing you to surf the web while you dart through the skies. The passes are also redeemable for two years after you buy the C720-2848. If you bust your C720-2848 Chromebook, you’re covered by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

However, the Acer C720-2848 Chromebook’s biggest drawing card could be its price. It costs only $199.99 and can be purchased from Amazon and Best Buy starting today.

Apple and OpenAI’s legal battle has quickly moved beyond carefully worded court statements. OpenAI has just shared the email and message trails behind the dispute, and one exchange leaves Apple’s version of events looking questionable.

In a bluntly titled post, “Apple is getting this wrong,” OpenAI challenged Apple’s request for a preliminary injunction and accused the iPhone maker of building parts of its case around false or incomplete information. Apple wants a court to prevent OpenAI and two former Apple employees from accessing, acquiring, using, or disclosing its alleged confidential information.

I recently wrote about Apple’s Continuity features and how they play a big role in keeping me trapped inside the Apple ecosystem. One of the smallest but most-used and favorite Continuity features is the Universal Clipboard, which lets me copy and paste text and files between multiple Apple devices.

Now, it seems that feature is finally coming to Windows PCs. As per MacRumors, Apple is reportedly working on letting you copy something on your iPhone and paste it straight into a Windows PC, no third-party app required.
