As Ricky Ricardo of I Love Lucy fame might say, Apple has some splainin’ to do.

After they initially announced that the redesigned Mac Pro desktop computer would be shipping starting on December 30, the ship date for the Mac Pro was suddenly pushed back to February, according to the Mac Pro page on Apple’s official site. This will no doubt tick off consumers who were eagerly awaiting the mysterious-looking desktop’s late December ship date. An exact February ship date hasn’t been revealed yet either.

This Mac Pro delay is akin to the delay suffered by Apple and its iMac all in one desktop back in 2012. Apple CEO Tim Cook later regretted the decisions that led to the 2012 iMac’s delays. Here’s what he said about the incident during a January 2013 conference call.

“If we could run it over frankly, I would have announced the iMac after the turn of the year, because we felt our customers had to wait too long for that specific product.”

Unfortunately for Apple, it appears as if CEO Tim Cook and the firm overall have learned from their mistakes. Considering that the revamped Mac Pro does not come cheap, with its entry-level model carrying a hefty $2,999 price tag, it’ll be interesting to see whether this turns people who were considering whether they should drop at least 3K on Apple’s newest desktop away for good.

For what it’s worth, one of the most common complaints about the new Mac Pro we’ve seen in the Digital Trends’ comments sections was the price. This delay certainly won’t help matters. Sound off in the comments below.

These 6 tweaks take MacBooks from great to nearly perfect
The MacBook Air on a white table.

I love getting a new MacBook. The slow-opening box, the fresh install of macOS, even the enchanting new Mac smell (which people have been rhapsodizing about for decades) -- it’s all part of the experience.

But you know what? MacBooks don't arrive perfect out of the box. There are a few things that I always have to adjust, regardless of how powerful the laptop is. From changing the default apps to unlocking a few hidden extras, here are the first six things to do with your new MacBook before putting it to work.

Pimax Crystal Super and Light VR headsets appear on a dark background.

While the Apple Vision Pro offers ultra-high-resolution displays with 23 million pixels, the staggering $3,500 price might inspire you to look for Vision Pro alternatives.

Good news: Pimax just announced two new VR headsets, including a budget model that costs as low as $799 and a more advanced version starting at $1,799. Both are based on the design of one of the best VR headsets currently available -- the Pimax Crystal that launched in May 2023 for $1,599 -- but come with a serious upgrade in terms of resolution.

Apple MacBook Pro 16 front angled view showing display and keyboard.

Video editing is one of the most demanding things you can ask of your laptop. Not only do you need a powerful processor to keep things running smoothly, but you'll also need loads of RAM and a solid GPU to best carry out the task. If any of these components are lacking, you could run into trouble with your software – resulting in sluggish performance and a frustrating overall experience.

Hunting for a laptop that's robust enough to handle video editing isn't easy, but you can make things more manageable by sticking to Apple's MacBook catalog.
