Now that Battlefield 4 seems to be working, DICE is forging ahead with downloadable content drops for the game, with two releases confirmed for February and March 2014. First up is the Second Assault DLC, which will be available starting February 18 to Premium subscribers on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360. The content pack, which has been exclusive to Xbox One since the console launched, gathers together four remastered maps from Battlefield 3, newly enhanced by the power of the Frostbite 3 engine: Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman, Operation Firestorm, and Operation Metro. Non-Premium subscribers will be able to buy the pack a la carte on March 3.

Next up is the Naval Strike DLC pack, which (as you might have guessed from the title) has a focus on water-based warfare. The latest Battlefield Blog post from DICE notes that the new content pack will launch in “late March” for Premium subscribers, presumably with a wider release to follow in April. The content pack adds “new weapons, gadgets, and amphibious vehicles” to the game, along with four new maps: Lost Island, Nansha Strike, Operation Mortar, and Wave Breaker.

All through February, DICE is giving players the gift of free stuff as a thank you for being patient during Battlefield 4‘s lengthy post-release fix process. The game launched in November 2013 with lots of technical issues that needed to be worked out on both the campaign and multiplayer sides of the game. Some players experienced few troubles, but most dealt with issues ranging from repeatedly dropped online matches to corrupted single player save files. February’s “Player Appreciation Month” doles out an assortment of gifts in the form of Battlepacks, double XP windows, and shortcut bundles. Check out the original news item for more details.
