Kodak Unveils 10 Megapixel EasyShare Z1012

Kodak has announced its new EasyShare Z1012 Zoom Digital Camera, sporting a 10 megapixel resolution, a 12× optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and a DSLR-like body with a secure handgrip.

“With the newest addition to the EasyShare family, Kodak is making it even easier for consumers to capture life’s high performance memories,” said Kodak’s Consumer Digital Imaging Group chief marketing officer Pierre Schaeffer, in a statement.

The EasyShare Z1012 features a full manual mode for photographers who like to have total control over their images, along with a “best in class” click-to-capture speed of just 0.14 seconds. For folks not into the fully manual thing, the camera sports automatic “smart capture technology” that identifies the scene and adjusts settings—and that even includes low-light photography, since the Z1012 can handle sensitivities down to ISO 3,200. The camera also offers face detection technology, and a multimedia slideshow features that enables users to present slide shows (with music!) right on the camera.

Kodak plans to offer the EasyShare Z1012 for $299.95 in the U.S, but all the company will say about the release date is that they’ll be on sale in the first half of 2008.
