What’s happened? Snapchat’s first open prompt image generation AI Lens, Imagine Lens, is now free for all users in the US.

  • Introduced last month, the Imagine Lens was previously exclusive to Lens+ and Snapchat Platinum subscribers.
  • Like other AI-powered image and video generation tools, it lets users generate or edit Snaps using custom prompts.

Why is this important? By making the Imagine Lens free for all users, Snapchat is giving more users a chance to experiment with AI-generated Snaps.

  • This move could attract new users while boosting engagement among the platform’s existing user base.
  • It also positions Snapchat as a viable alternative to Instagram and TikTok, both of which offer similar AI-powered features.
  • With the Lens now available for free, Snapchat users no longer have to rely on ChatGPT or Gemini’s Nano Banana for their image generation needs.

Why should I care? If you’re in the US, you can now try out Snapchat’s Imagine Lens without paying for a subscription.

  • The Lens offers a fun and easy way to level up your Snaps or bring new ideas to life.
  • You can use the Imagine Lens by selecting it from the Lens Carousel and tapping the caption to enter a prompt.
  • The AI-generated Snaps can be added to your Story or shared with friends in Snapchat or through another app.

What’s next? There’s some good news for Snapchat users outside the US as well. The platform plans to expand Imagine Lens availability to more markets, starting with Canada, Great Britain, and Australia. However, it has yet to outline a release timeline for the same.

Samsung launches Galaxy Card with cashback on Galaxy purchases
Galaxy credit card

For years, Samsung has worked to turn Galaxy into more than a smartphone brand. Today, the company's ecosystem stretches across foldables, smartwatches, televisions, home appliances, smart home products and digital services. Now, it's adding another piece to that puzzle, one that has little to do with hardware.

Samsung has officially introduced the Samsung Galaxy Card, its first branded credit card in the U.S. Designed in partnership with Barclays US Consumer Bank and operating on the Visa network, the card rewards users for everyday spending while offering significantly higher cashback on purchases made directly through Samsung.

This iPhone app turns a face scan into a personalized skincare routine
A 30-second face scan is all this iPhone app needs to suggest a skincare routine
Electronics, Phone, Mobile Phone

Indie developers have been behind some unusually specific apps across Apple’s platforms lately. Glaze can turn every Mac window into a CRT fever dream, while Screen Test can help expose monitor defects before the return window closes. I recently came across another one called Sharp, an iPhone app that uses a face scan to build and adjust a skincare routine.

Sharp was created by Esat, a student and solo developer from Germany who says his own skin problems inspired the project. The app is primarily aimed at people who want to start a routine but have little idea which products to use or what areas of their skin need attention.

The World Cup trophy's already been handed out, but Apple isn't done pleasing soccer fans just yet. Apple Sports got updated to version 4.2 today, and the whole update is built around one sport (via 9to5Mac).

Since its debut, Apple Sports has steadily picked up features like live play-by-play and standings, along with deeper match insights. On the other hand, the company’s broader sports push has expanded through MLS Season Pass and exclusive content on Apple TV.
