Fresh off a Best Supporting Actress Oscar win for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, Luptia Nyong’o is reportedly being considered for the lead female role in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII. It’s not at all confirmed, with The Hollywood Reporter simply citing “sources,” but Nyong’o reportedly met with Abrams a few weeks before her Oscar win.

There’s no word on how far along those talks are (if they even happened) or what the lead female role in Episode VII is. One rumor suggests that she’d be some descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi. There are two other leads in the film – one male and one female – for actors in their mid-twenties; this isn’t the part Nyong’o reportedly met Abrams for.

We only recently heard that Abrams and his team had narrowed down the film’s male stars to a shortlist that includes Breaking Bad‘s Jesse Plemons and Attack the Block star John Boyega. It is also widely believed that Girls star Adam Driver has been cast as the movie’s lead villain.
