Keep track of World Cup scores and news with Goal, a sidebar app for Firefox

If you’re a die-hard soccer fan based here in the U.S., it is probably tough for you to watch all the games considering that, day in and day out (so far), the first two games of the daily action are played at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET. That’s smack dab in the middle of normal business hours! However, with Goal, a nifty sidebar app for Mozilla Firefox, you can keep track of all the World Cup scores and news without having to check out your phone, or switch between browser tabs.

Since Goal is a desktop sidebar app, it will remain visible no matter what you do in Firefox. Once installed, it provides you with live scores for all the day’s games, news briefs, and more. Want to learn more about some breaking World Cup news? Just click on the link in Goal. Want to learn more about an upcoming match? Just click on the score, even if the game isn’t in progress yet. In both instances, clicking on things within Goal will open full news articles for your reading pleasure. The Goal sidebar app is courtesy of Goal.com, a soccer news website.

We looked around at the Google Chrome app store, and the Internet Explorer extensions page to check if Goal was available for either of those browsers. We couldn’t find Goal for either of those browsers.

According to WABetaInfo, the rollout has begun through the latest Mac App Store update and is currently reaching a limited number of users.
