Audi chief confirms third TT bodystyle … but will it be a crossover?

Audi has all but confirmed it will expand the TT lineup with a sporty crossover in the not-too-distant future.

Speaking at the launch of the third-gen TT coupe in Spain, Audi development chief Ulrich Hackenberg confirmed a third variant of the TT will be introduced shortly. He did not provide specific details but he revealed the TT offroad concept (pictured) that bowed in Beijing last April “provides an insight into how we might envisage a new model in a future TT family.”

The production-bound TT crossover is expected to be nearly identical to the TT offroad concept. It will borrow styling cues such as angular lights on both ends and pronounced wheel arches from the TT coupe but it will pack four doors, a noticeably higher ground clearance as well as plastic trim over the rocker panels and the wheel arches.

Inside, the TT coupe’s driver-focused dashboard and innovative fully digital instrument cluster will be carried over to the crossover. Similarly, the soft-roader will share the bulk of its gasoline- and diesel-burning engines with its two-door sibling.

Audi has previously announced the star of its booth at next month’s Paris Motor Show will be the topless TT, meaning the crossover will likely be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March of next year. When it lands, the rugged TT will fight head-to-head against the BMW X4 and the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

The line between your smartphone and your car continues to blur. Volvo has announced that it is rolling out an over-the-air software update that brings Apple Music directly to the infotainment systems of more than 2 million vehicles worldwide. Instead of relying on Apple CarPlay or plugging in an iPhone, eligible drivers will be able to stream music natively from their car's built-in system, making Apple Music another integrated feature of Volvo's software experience.

The update is arriving for a wide range of Volvo models, including the EX90, ES90, XC90, S90, V90, XC60, S60, V60, XC40, EX40 and EC40, covering model year 2020 onwards. Availability, however, may vary depending on the vehicle.

Self-driving cars have gotten pretty good at driving. The harder problem is teaching them to drive safely in situations nobody planned for. A team at Seoul National University, led by professor Jun Won Choi from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, thinks they have cracked part of that puzzle with a new AI model called SafeDrive. The research was recently selected as a highlight paper at CVPR 2026, a distinction that goes only to roughly 3% of all submissions.
