Trio of Porsche plug-in hybrids set for Paris exhibition

At the upcoming Paris Motor Show, Porsche looks to solidify itself as “the only brand to offer three plug-in [hybrid] models,” with planned showcases of the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the Panamera S E-Hybrid, and the vaunted 918 Spyder.

As you can see, these aren’t exactly Chevy Volts.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid will be making its world premiere at the event, and it will do so alongside updated gas-only brethren: the Cayenne S, the Cayenne Turbo, and the Cayenne Diesel.

The plug-in Cayenne sports an incredible combined fuel consumption rating of 3.4 liters per 100 km (that’s 69.1 miles per gallon), which is especially impressive given the all-wheel drive SUV’s total output of 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque.

Porsche says the hybrid powertrain, which includes a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and a 95-hp electric motor, allows the SUV to travel from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. MSRP on the E-Hybrid is $76,400.

Porsche’s two others plug-ins are already well established, but not any less impressive.

The 918 Spyder took the world by storm when it was unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, completing the trifecta of hybrid supercars that included the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari.

With an 887-hp hybrid powertrain, Porsche claims the 918 Spyder supercar returns a combined fuel rating of 3.1 l/100 km (75.87 mpg)

The Panamera S E-Hybrid shares the plug-in Cayenne’s powertrain, but with a higher combined fuel rating (3.1 l/100 km or 75.87 mpg) due to its lighter curb weight.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid will be publicly displayed for the first time at Porsche’s Paris Motor Show press conference on October 2nd. For those unable to see it in person, you can watch a live stream online here.
