The last 24 hours have been filled with Marvel movie news, and while most of it has been focused on the distant future of the studio’s cinematic universe, the latest update concerns the next big adventure for Captain America, Iron Man, and the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. After the first trailer for Avengers: Age Of Ultron was released early (possibly by Hydra, if you believe Marvel), the studio used this week’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to debut a new clip from the film.
The new clip from Age Of Ultron shows Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and the rest of the team unwinding after a mission, along with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and other returning characters. Challenged by Thor to try picking up his enchanted hammer, Mjolnir — which can only be lifted by those deemed worthy of its power — Tony Stark tries in vain, puts on one of Iron Man gauntlets and fails again, then gets an assist from James Rhodes (Don Cheadle), wearing his War Machine gauntlet, only to fail a third time.

Captain America actually moves the hammer a bit, causing Thor to look concerned, but ultimately fails to lift Mjolnir from the table.
The group’s fun is interrupted by the arrival of a ragged version of Ultron (voiced by James Spader), who staggers into the room, explains exactly why they’re so unworthy, and then proceeds to crush a discarded piece of Iron Man armor for effect. The clip then segues into a sequence of scenes from the trailer.
Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.
