New TV spot for The Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies demands you take a side

The Hobbit TV spot asks you to choose a side in the Battle of the Five Armies

The final trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies debuted last week, and now that we’re inching closer to the film’s arrival in theaters, the first (of what’s likely to be many) television spots for the conclusion to Peter Jackson’s latest Middle-earth trilogy has found its way online.

The new teaser is all about choosing a side in the impending battle for Lonely Mountain and its vast riches. While it’s pretty clear whose side some of the dwarves are on (their own), the final chapter of the saga finds Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) caught between competing factions. With dwarves on one side, elves and humans on another, and an army of goblins and orcs looming large on the horizon, there’s precious little a hobbit can do to turn the tide — or so everyone thinks.

While the J.R.R. Tolkien novel the trilogy is based on devoted a relatively short amount of story to this final, climactic battle, Jackson has given it an entire movie. And from the footage in the trailer, the acclaimed filmmaker’s attention to this conflict hasn’t been wasted.

The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies hits 3D, IMAX 3D, and standard theaters December 17.

YouTube does not have the expansive libraries that Netflix or Max boast. But YouTube offers many films in multiple genres, including drama, comedy, action, adventure, thriller, and horror. To help guide your choice, we curated a list of the best free movies to watch on YouTube this month.

Netflix debuts first teaser trailer for Cobra Kai season 6
The cast of Cobra Kai.

Netflix has grand plans for the final run of Cobra Kai, including the longest season to date with 15 episodes. But the downside of that news is that Cobra Kai season 6 is being split into three parts, and the last batch of episodes is being held back until 2025. In the meantime, the first teaser trailer for Cobra Kai season 6 has arrived. And while the trailer is light on story details, it's good to see the students of Johnny and Daniel's combined dojo training together again.

According to Netflix's official synopsis for the final season, the story picks up after Cobra Kai's dojo and franchises have been eliminated from the Valley. Now, Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen have to decide whether they will send their students to compete in the Sekai Taikai, which is "the world championships of karate."

Two men point guns at each other in Face/Off.

With well over 100 movies to his name since his screen debut in 1982, Nicolas Cage is one of the most prolific actors of his generation. And while Cage has appeared in many rom-coms, thrillers, and dramas, he's only occasionally accepted roles in sci-fi movies. Even with Cage's direct-to-video era, there just aren't many science fiction movies to choose from.

Since Cage has a sci-fi adjacent postapocalyptic horror flick called Arcadian currently available on VOD, we've decided to throw the spotlight on the seven best Nicolas Cage sci-fi movies. However, you should keep in mind that Cage isn't always the best judge of what is or isn't a great movie. That's why this list would be very different if it was about the seven best Nicolas Cage movies. In fact, only our top choice would be on both lists.
