Once you’re all checked out, though, there’s another screaming muscle car you should consider: the Callaway Corvette Z06.
Callaway is a Connecticut-based tuner with a penchant for taking American cars to their limit in terms of performance. The outfit has tuning packages for the Chevrolet Camaro, Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban, but it’s best known for slapping superchargers onto V8-powered Corvettes.
The ‘Vette Z06, Callaway’s latest experiment, already has one of those. But that doesn’t mean there’s no room to grow.
Promising “an astounding power level,” the brand’s Z06 tuning package is set to debut at the National Corvette Museum C7 Bash, which will be held in Bowling Green, Kentucky, April 23rd through the 25th.
Though we don’t yet know what figures the car will churn out, Callaway has added a ‘GenThree’ supercharger system that flaunts 32 percent higher displacement than the production blower. The package also boasts an improved manifold design and a new triple-element intercooler.
Other additions include a supercharger surround hood trim ring, carbon fiber engine covers, a high-flow intake system, Callaway-branded floor mats and sill panels, exclusive badging, a build plaque, and a couple new key fobs. The price for all this? A cool $16,995.
Without knowing final output, it’s hard to say if it’ll be worth it or not. One thing we can say for sure, however, is that Callaway has a lot to live up to.
The company’s main competitor, Hennessey, currently offers three packages for the C7 Z06: the 750-hp HPE750, the HPE800, and the HPE1000. Where will the new Callaway Corvette fall?
