Watch the creepy trailer for the final chapter of the Paranormal Activity franchise

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension Movie Trailer
One of the most profitable film franchises of all time comes to an end this year with the release of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, the sixth and final installment of the Paranormal Activity horror series. The first trailer for The Ghost Dimension debuted this week, and it’s jam-packed with all the jump-scares and found-footage creepiness that has become a hallmark of the series.

Directed by Gregory Plotkin, the editor of the previous four Paranormal Activity movies, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension follows a young family that discovers an old video camera and a box of tapes in their new home. When they realize that the camera allows them to perceive supernatural events occurring around them, they soon find themselves caught up in a terrifying encounter with the characters — demonic, possessed, and otherwise — that terrorized the cast of the previous five films.

Franchise producer Jason Blum has promised that The Ghost Dimension will answer all of the questions posed by the series’ mythology up to this point, including the true nature of the demon at the heart of the franchise.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension stars Chris J. Murray, Brit Shaw, and Ivy George as the new family caught up in the Paranormal Activity saga, and features the return of franchise veteran Katie Featherston, the only cast member to appear in every film in the series.

“All the questions that everyone has asked from the past Paranormal Activity films: What does Toby look like? What’s the backstory to the families? These questions have been teased out. Now they will be answered,” said Blum of The Ghost Dimension in an interview published earlier this year.

After the original Paranormal Activity earned more than $193 million on a $15,000 budget, the franchise has gone on to become one of the most profitable series of the modern era. Collectively, the franchise has grossed more than $811 million worldwide so far on a total production budget of just $18 million.

Co-written by Adam Robitel and Gavin Heffernan, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension hits standard and 3D theaters October 23.

The cast of That Thing You Do!

The first weekend in May has arrived, and Hulu fans should be happy to hear that there's a new lineup of movies to enjoy. Like most of the major streamers, Hulu debuts the majority of its library additions on the first of the month. But there will more movies released on Hulu throughout May.

Since the first weekend of May is traditionally timed around the opening of a superhero movie, our first choice this weekend is a comic book film that's celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Our other two picks include Tom Hanks' directorial debut, and a generation-spanning drama that holds up three decades after its release.
The Mask (1994)
