Alcatel OneTouch focuses on the budget-minded with the Conquest and the Elevate

Continuing its focus on those who can’t spend too much on a smartphone, Alcatel OneTouch announced a pair of new smartphones, the Conquest and the Elevate, for Boost Mobile, one of Sprint’s prepaid services.

Starting with the Conquest, the quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM should allow the phone to run Android 5.0 Lollipop well enough for day-to-day needs. You only get 8GB of internal memory, though you can add up to 32GB of expandable storage through the Conquest’s MicroSD card slot. The 5-inch 720p display in the front forgoes Gorilla Glass 3 for Dragontrail reinforcement, which should hopefully prevent scratches from marring the slick surface.

Meanwhile, a 5-megapixel camera sits around back, while a 2-megapixel shooter is above the display. Finally, coming in as a nice surprise, the Conquest is rated IP67 for dust- and waterproofing. In other words, the Conquest can be completely submerged under three feet of water for up to 30 minutes and still function, as well as deter any dust that comes its way. If you want to grab the Conquest for yourself, you can buy it right now through Boost Mobile for $130.

Finally, we have the Elevate, which is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core processor. You’ll also find the same resolution cameras on the front and back of the phone, though the display is a smaller 4.5-inch screen with a lower resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.

Your standard array of wireless connectivity can also be found on the Elevate, including 3G and 4G LTE. Lastly, the handset runs a more recent version of Android — Android 5.1 Lollipop — than the Conquest, though the Elevate doesn’t feature any dust- or waterproofing.

Given its less powerful specifications, the Elevate will come with a cheaper $100 price tag when it becomes available through Boost Mobile sometime in August.

How to turn off call forwarding on iPhone and Android
A person holding the Apple iPhone 15 Plus, showing the camera.

If you’re mysteriously missing calls on your iPhone or Android smartphone, it may be because call forwarding is activated on your line. In that case, all your incoming calls could be going somewhere else.

Call forwarding shouldn’t typically be active unless you’ve specifically turned it on, but another person or app may have done so without your knowledge. And since call forwarding is a carrier feature, it could still be enabled on a line you inherited from someone else, even if you’ve swapped their SIM card into your phone or transferred it to a new account.
