New leak details specs for Dell XPS 15

At Computex 2015 back in June, Dell turned plenty of heads with the arresting XPS 15. The system’s 15.6-inch Infinity Display was enough to pique the interest of many attendees, but now leaked details of its other specifications suggest that there’s plenty to admire under the hood, too.

The laptop will feature an Intel Skylake processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics, according to a report from Liliputing. It also boasts 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of solid state memory, and a host of ports including a Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C input that supports VGA, Ethernet and other adapters.

More details on the all-important screen have also been released. Apparently, both a 1,920 x 1,080 and a 2,840 x 2,160 IGZO display will be available, with users having the option of making either of these a touch screen to take advantage of the tablet-friendly options offered by Windows 10.

The remarkable thing about the XPS 15 is just how much is packed into the rig considering its size and weight. At 0.67 inches thick and weighing less than four pounds, it’s an undeniably high-end laptop that doesn’t make any compromises in terms of portability.

In the Digital Trends review of the XPS 15’s predecessor, the 2015 model of the XPS 13, the laptop’s thin-bezel display was one of its most highly praised features. That bezel plays two roles, emphasizing the impact of the display itself, and also contributing to the system’s practical form factor.

All in all, this looks like a very promising computer — but not having to compromise between the practicality of a laptop and the sort of specs that the XPS 15 carries a certain kind of price tag. It’s expected that Dell will charge some $2,200 for the top edition of the laptop, although more wallet-friendly variants will be available.

OpenAI wants to make ChatGPT safer for teens, and the changes go well beyond a simple content filter. In a new update, the company laid out its stance on why teens should have access to AI in the first place, arguing that keeping them away from it entirely would leave them unprepared for one of the defining technologies of their generation.

Nearly 90% of teens already use ChatGPT weekly for learning, research, or getting organized, which is why OpenAI says access needs to come paired with real protections built for their age.

Google is making AI Mode in Search more useful by letting you connect third-party apps. Starting this week in the US, you can securely connect some of your go-to apps directly to AI Mode, letting Search actually complete tasks for you instead of just answering questions.

This update builds on a similar trick Google already pulled off inside the Gemini app, and now it is landing in Search itself. The initial rollout includes three launch partners, Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music, with Google saying more app integrations are on the way.
