As Will Ferrell’s indelible character from Zoolander, Mugatu, might say, “That Amy Schumer’s so hot right now!”
Along with a hit series (Inside Amy Schumer), a hit movie co-starring Lebron James (Trainwreck), and a fresh HBO comedy special (Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo), the skyrocketing actress/comedian has inked a deal to executive produce and star in a new comedy from Fox studios.
According to Deadline, the as-yet untitled film will reportedly be a mother-daughter comedy about a vacation gone awry, starring Schumer as the daughter. The studio is reportedly still shopping for Schumer’s counterpart, along with the rest of the cast, but cult director Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, 50/50) is on board to direct.
The script was written by Katie Dippold (The Heat) — who was inspired by her own relationship with her mother — and a host of big names in the comedy world are onboard, including Dippold’s writing partner for the new Ghostbusters film, Paul Feig, who will produce with Jessie Henderson. Kimberly Caramele will executive produce alongside Schumer, and the two are also providing extra script work, according to the report.
Coming off the hottest year of her career, Schumer recently hosted SNL’s Oct 10 episode, (following the season premiere with Miley Cyrus), and her series Inside Amy Schumer was renewed by Comedy Central in April for a fourth season. Oh yeah, did we mention her multi-million dollar book deal?
In other words, no matter the medium, it’s very good to be Amy Schumer these days.
