The cast of the Starz horror-comedy Ash vs. Evil Dead is filling out in season two with the addition of the Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors, and Evil Dead series fan favorite Ted Raimi, Deadline reports.
Majors will play Ash’s father, a character never seen in the movies that spawned the show. Following his bionic ’70s TV legacy, Majors has remained busy throughout his entire career, and hasn’t slowed down in recent years. Majors recently finished shooting two movies — Almosting It and Do You Believe — and is set to shoot two more this summer.
While Raimi, who will play Ash’s childhood best friend, might not be as well known as an actor, many Ash vs. Evil Dead fans have been wondering why he wasn’t in the series from episode one, as he was featured (albeit often from behind or under heavy makeup) in all three Evil Dead movies. Raimi is the brother of director Sam Raimi and screenwriter Ivan Raimi, both of whom serve as executive producers for Ash vs. Evil Dead along with Bruce Campbell, Craig DiGregorio, and Robert Tapert.
The series, led by Campbell as the titular main character, picks up 30 years after the movies left off. After spending years living in a trailer and avoiding growing up, Ash has once again unleashed the Deadites on the world by inadvertently reading from the Book of the Dead (again).
Ash is joined by loyal sidekick and ValueStop co-worker Pablo Simon Bolivar (Ray Santiago), who believes Ash is destined to save the world, and Kelly Maxwell (Dana DeLorenzo), who is out for revenge after losing her parents to the Deadites. The cast also features Lucy Lawless as Ruby, who now possesses the book.
Ash vs. Evil Dead premiered on October 31, but was renewed for a second season before the first episode aired. No premiere date has been announced so far for season 2, but it’s set to air sometime in 2016 and, like the first season, it will run for 10 episodes.
