Latest ‘Game of Thrones’ photos reveal a growing conflict, a target, and more

If you’re still reeling from the shocking developments of the latest Game of Thrones episode, you’re not alone, but the time to move forward has come. HBO has released six new photos from episode 6, Blood of My Blood, which will usher us into the second half of season 6. If you’re not up to date on the series, watch out: Spoilers lie ahead.

Not surprisingly, the new batch of photos show still more conflict ahead. They offer glimpses of confrontations to come, an important decision to be made, and a possible walk of shame. Through them, we see hints of what may develop in the upcoming episode for nine characters.

The images go nicely with HBO’s synopsis, which previews multiple plot lines:

An old foe comes back into the picture. Gilly (Hannah Murray) meets Sam’s (John Bradley) family. Arya (Maisie Williams) faces a difficult choice. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) faces off against the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce).

Arya’s “difficult choice” clearly refers to deciding whether or not she’ll kill her target: Lady Jane (Essie Davis). The would-be victim is pictured looking very much alive but not overly happy. Arya, on the other hand, seems to be unusually happy — she doesn’t appear to be suffering a moral dilemma. In fact, as she stands in a grim-countenanced group, she is all smiles.

The face-off between Jamie and the High Sparrow is included in the images as well, and it is clear that we should expect a big clash in King’s Landing. Jaime, sporting a furrowed brow, sits atop a white horse (symbolism, anyone?) in one photo, while in another, the High Sparrow stands tall as Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and Septa Unella (Hannah Waddingham) wait behind him. Signs point to a possible walk of shame, especially given that Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman) seems so upset in another image.

Meanwhile, though not mentioned in the synopsis, Daario and Daenerys seem to be sitting pretty. Now at the head of a Dothraki army, they’re shown on horseback.

The twists and turns continue when Game of Thrones season 6, episode 6 airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

House of the Dragon season 2: Everything we know so far

While it may not be coming this year, long-time Game of Thrones fans are already eagerly anticipating the return of House of the Dragon. The show became a genuine phenomenon in its first season, which told the story of the friendship between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower as it soured into what would eventually become an all-out civil war.
HBO renewed the show for a second season almost as soon as the first season began airing, and we already know plenty about where the show will be headed when it returns.
This post does not contain any spoilers for the show’s second season, but it is informed by Fire & Blood, the Targaryen history by George R.R. Martin that the series is adapted from, and will obviously continue to focus on the conflict between Rhaenyra and her younger half-brother Aegon as they battle for control of the Iron Throne.

Without delving into spoilers, the second season of the show is expected to pick up soon after the first season left off. Fans of the show will likely recall that that season ended with Aemond Targaryen’s dragon inadvertently attacking and killing Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys and his dragon. Lucerys’s death is what ultimately brings what had been a simmering conflict closer to a boil, and leads to a much greater level of death and destruction.
We also know, thanks to an interview with one of the show’s writers, that a moment known to fans as Blood and Cheese will be included on the show. The exact details of that moment are best left to the imagination, but suffice it to say that it’s a moment likely to leave many fans talking.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves reveals what modern fantasy is missing

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is far better than it has any right to be. The film, which counts Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, and Michelle Rodriguez among its stars, is Hollywood’s latest attempt to profit off the popularity of the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop roleplaying game. The industry’s previous attempts to do so went famously poorly. Fortunately, Honor Among Thieves isn’t just a marked improvement on the previous Dungeons & Dragons movies, but it’s also a genuinely fun adventure film that has more heart in it than most other blockbusters that are released nowadays.

Part of the film’s charm is its lighthearted, straightforward comedic tone. From the moment it begins, Honor Among Thieves doesn’t take itself too seriously. While it features more than its fair share of exposition and world-building, too, the film doesn’t ever get too bogged down in setting up the “seriousness” of its fantasy world. Instead, Honor Among Thieves focuses all of its efforts on telling a fantasy adventure story that is, above all else, infectiously fun.

Tetris trailer reveals how the puzzle game became a worldwide hit

Apple TV+, AI Film, and Marv Studios have released the first official trailer for Tetris ahead of the film's March 31 release on Apple's streaming service. It follows the adventures of Henk Rogers as he attempts to secure distribution rights to Tetris, an excellent puzzle game that became one of the most popular games ever.
The trailer follows Rogers as he discovers the game and tries to obtain the rights to Tetris, which was developed in the waning years of the USSR. We see Henk, one of the first people outside of Nintendo to see the GameBoy, describing the mental "Tetris effect" he gets from playing it, and outsmarting the Soviet Union so Tetris can be a pack-in title for the handheld system.

Anyone who knows the complicated story behind Tetris' worldwide success will recognize many of the trailer's best moments, while those who don't know the backstory will learn a lot and appreciate the 1980s aesthetic of it all.

Tetris is directed by Jon S. Baird and written by Noah Pink. It stars Taron Egerton as Henk Rogers, Nikita Yefremov as Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov, along with Toby Jones, Roger Allam, Anthony Boyle, Togo Igawa, Ken Yamamura, Ben Miles, Matthew Marsh, and Rick Yune. While video game adaptations are becoming more common, it'll be exciting to see what this creative talent can bring to a game-related biopic.
Tetris will hit Apple TV+ on March 31. And if you want to play the version of the game this film's plot is centered around, the Game Boy version of Tetris is included with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
