BoJack Horseman is riding in for season 3 this summer, and Netflix is getting fans ready now. The streamer dropped a new promo today to announce the show’s summer return date.
Horse-slash-actor BoJack (voiced by Will Arnett) is in his usual good humor in the promo. He’s shown out at a restaurant with his agent and sometime lady cat-friend, Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), while a disgruntled waiter looks on. His charming dinner conversation is a rant about critics, who he thinks should “eat a flat butt.”
“Critics are the worst,” says BoJack. “That’s my review of critics. Two thumbs down. Four percent fresh. One star.”
Comically, the horse’s negative comments come immediately after glowing reviews from real-life critics are shown to viewers. BoJack may not like critics, but they like him: As we see in the promo, the animated sitcom has been praised as everything from “a nuanced meditation on depression” to “one of television’s best shows.”
Season 3 will continue tackling “life’s big questions,” according to Netflix. Prepare for meditations on success, connections between people, and more. The series centers on BoJack as he struggles with his up-and-down acting career, and deals with his bumpy relationship with Princess Carolyn, his ongoing irritation with frenemy Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F. Tompkins), and his freeloading roommate Todd (Aaron Paul).
The BoJack Horseman Twitter account teased the promo today, wryly commenting on life and the show’s subject matter.

The voice cast also includes Alison Brie and has had a huge roster of guest stars over the course of its two seasons, including Naomi Watts, Paul McCartney, Lisa Kudrow, and more. The series is created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, who executive produces alongside Arnett, Paul, Steven A. Cohen, and Noel Bright.
