The good news is that Orphan Black has been renewed for a fifth season. The bad news is that it will be the last, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Season 4 of the gripping sci-fi drama is currently underway, with the season finale scheduled to air tonight at 10 p.m. on BBC America. Season 5, which will include 10 one-hour episodes, will commence in 2017.

According to THR, adding insult to injury, viewers will reportedly be left with a major cliffhanger to lead into the final season.

Orphan Black stars Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany, who brilliantly portrays several distinct clones. Main character Sarah crosses paths with a woman who looks identical to her just before the latter commits suicides. Sarah attempts to steal the woman’s identity, and discovers a twisted plot. Maslany was nominated for an Emmy for her role(s) in the show, and has won several other accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award, a pair of Critics’ Choice Awards, and a Television Critics Association Award.

Sarah Bennett, president of BBC America, calls the show “genre-bending,” lauding the “genius team of actors, writers, and producers. We can’t wait to take our incredibly passionate audience on one final gobsmacking clone adventure.”

“We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters. The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show,” added executive producers Graeme Manson and John Fawcett, the co-creators and showrunners.

Filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Orphan Black has become so popular that it spawned its own after-show talk show, After the Black, that operates similarly to AMC and Chris Hardwick’s after-shows like Talking Dead and Talking Saul.

Tiny galaxy has huge black hole at its center, gives clues to galactic evolution
tiny galaxy supermassive black hole a with big heart

Nestled within this field of bright foreground stars lies ESO 495-21, a tiny galaxy with a big heart. ESO 495-21 is just 3000 light-years across, a fraction of the size of the Milky Way, but that is not stopping the galaxy from furiously forming huge numbers of stars. There are also indicators for a supermassive black hole in its center -- an unusual component for a galaxy of its size. ESA/Hubble, NASA
