Scares and laughs: FX sets premieres for 'American Horror Story,' two new comedies

The time to prepare for fall TV is now. Looking ahead to the autumn months, FX has announced premiere dates for American Horror Story season 6 and two upcoming comedies — Better Things from Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K., and Donald Glover’s Atlanta.

First up will be Atlanta, which premieres at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesday, September 6, reports Variety. Glover serves not only as the creator but one of the stars. In the series set amid the Atlanta music scene, Glover plays Earn Marks, a young man trying to manage the budding music career of his cousin Alfred (played by Brian Tyree Henry). With Glover doubling as a real-life rapper, we hope to see his character pick up a mic at some point instead of just leaving the spotlight to Alfred. Glover executive produces alongside Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle.

Better Things will premiere next, making its debut at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Thursday, September 8. Co-created by Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K., the show may be just what fans lamenting Louie‘s hiatus need. The comedy stars Adlon as Sam, a single mom of three and a struggling actress.  Like Louie, the show is semi-autobiographical, but the story centers around Adlon’s character this time. She and Louis C.K. executive produce, along with Blair Breard, Dave Becky, and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Last but not least, American Horror Story will bring forth its sixth season at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday, September 14. The latest installment in the horror anthology will surely bring more disturbing twists and turns, but so far, the biggest mystery is the theme. FX has yet to reveal its focus, and on top of that, the cast is being kept under wraps. However, like its predecessors, season 6 will almost certainly feature an impressive ensemble cast.

There is still plenty of summer to enjoy, but FX is giving us a lot to look forward to when fall takes over. Expect thrills, chills, music, and laughter.

The cast of That Thing You Do!

The first weekend in May has arrived, and Hulu fans should be happy to hear that there's a new lineup of movies to enjoy. Like most of the major streamers, Hulu debuts the majority of its library additions on the first of the month. But there will more movies released on Hulu throughout May.

Since the first weekend of May is traditionally timed around the opening of a superhero movie, our first choice this weekend is a comic book film that's celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Our other two picks include Tom Hanks' directorial debut, and a generation-spanning drama that holds up three decades after its release.
The Mask (1994)
