The wait is almost over: Top Gear releases trailer for Series 22

Some say that he won’t celebrate New Years because his species doesn’t age, and that his blood is actually the cure for Ebola.

All we know is, he’s called The Stig.

Everyone’s favorite mute racing driver looks to be back on screen soon, as Top Gear has released the official teaser trailer for the upcoming 22nd season.

In the 74-second video, The Stig is shown taking a much-need vacation in Italy, Africa, India, and Australia while using a bright yellow Lamborghini Aventador as a rental car.

Top Gear Series 22 trailer

Hopefully, it’ll buff out.

There’s little info as to what Series 22 will hold (outside of a drifting Jaguar F-Type R), but with any luck, the BBC program will complete its review of the holy hypercar trinity that is the McLaren P1, Porsche 918, and Ferrari LaFerrari.

Top Gear tested the Mclaren and Porsche in Series 21, and the TG mag team tested the trio in December, but there’s nothing like the collective ramblings of Clarkson, Hammond, and May.

Thus far, Clarkson prefers the P1, calling it “the next chapter in motoring” and describing its performance as “speed like you simply would not believe.”

Porsche-enthusiast Hammond fancies the 918, describing the hybrid’s massive off-line punch as “like a sprinter falling out of bed and going straight to a world record.”

The program’s Patagonia Christmas Special just aired on the BBC, and despite the controversy leading up to it, the fan reaction was overwhelmingly positive.

Top Gear’s Series 22 doesn’t have an official start date yet, but the BBC program promises that it’s “coming soon.”
