Tekkeon has announced a new black version of its myPower lithium polymer battery pack add-on for Apple’s iPod music and video players. The products offer up to 42 extra hours of music playback or 9 additional hours of video, in addition to providing USB 2.0, FireWire, and stereo headphone output. Not enough? The myPower battery back also sports a 5-volt charging port for devices like mobile phones and digital cameras.

The myPower units are available in two models; the essential difference between them is the MP1140 offers a FireWire power adapter so the unit can be charged via FireWire port on a computer, and only the 1140 is available in black. The myPower units are compatible with the 3rd, 4th, and (current) 5th generation iPods, the iPod mini, and iPod photo through the use of included sizing pads. The new black myPower units carry a suggested price off $69.95; the FireWire-free white MP1100 is priced at $59.95.
