Wii Users Crazy for Orb MyCasting Service

Wii Users Crazy for Orb MyCasting ServiceLast week we wrote about Orb Networking launching their MyCasting service for the Sony Playstation 3, today the company announced thatthey have received an overwhelming response of downloads for the Nintendo Wii; more than 50,000 to be exact.
So what exactly does the MyCasting service do? It let’s you stream media from your PC to your game console. The MyCasting software is available for free download. Once installed the user creates"channels" in which they can categorize their music, photos, video, TV, documents and other files to playback through their game console.
The secret to getting the service to work on your game console lies within the internet browser. For Wii users, you will need to download the Opera internet browser on your Nintendo Wii. Install theOrb MyCasting software on your PC next, and then access it using the freshly installed internet browser on your game console.
"Wii users are really getting into using Orb: watching YouTube videos and listening to their music on their TVs. But they want a simple interface to make it easier to navigate with the Wiiremote — so we designed one quickly and launched it today," said Joe Costello, Chairman and CEO of Orb Networks. "The experience continues to be about simplicity and when you have 50,000people starting to use your service over such a short period of time, we want them to know we’re listening and responding." You can try the MyCasting software by downloading it at the company’swebsite.

The PlayStation Stars program launched in Japan today, and fans in Sony's home country are not too happy about some members getting better treatment than others. According to a report from Video Games Chronicle, they're specifically upset over Tier 4 members getting priority customer service.

When Sony announced PlayStation Stars in July, it called it a free rewards and loyalty program in which all PS5 and PS4 players can earn rewards for completing various in-game challenges. However, it didn't mention that there was a four-tier level system they have to work through by purchasing games and earning trophies.

A PS5 standing on a table, with purple lights around it.

Due to the nature of my job, I own every modern video game console. I have a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, PC, and even a Steam Deck. Would you believe me if I told you that out of all of those, the PS5 is the one I use the least?

It’s not that I never use it. Sony still offers the best console exclusives around, with top-notch titles like Horizon Forbidden West and Returnal. For that reason, my PS5 is a sturdy pillar in my gaming rotation that’ll never just sit collecting dust. That said, I rarely boot it up for any reason other than to play those handful of releases. Meanwhile, each of my other gaming devices have some incentive that has me returning to them even when there’s not a tentpole AAA game to dig into.
