From time to time, Amazon offers special deals for Alexa users that allow them to get promotional pricing on select items by using voice ordering with any Alexa-enabled device. Three such deals are live for Black Friday, the best of which allows you to orderfor just $5.
Oddly enough, with all the other Amazon smart devices on sale, the Smart Plug is not. It’s listed for its full price of $25 on the Amazon site — although it’s included in several Echo device bundles, which we covered earlier this week. Don’t order it through the website: Just say, “Alexa, order an Amazon Smart Plug,” and you’ll get the promotional pricing.
The promotion is limited to one per customer and appears to expire at the end of the weekend or while supplies last. This is by at least $10 the cheapest we’ve seen these plugs go for, so don’t delay if you want to cash in. The plug works exceptionally well and is autodetected by Alexa, making setup a breeze. All you’ll need to do is rename the plug so you can ask Alexa to turn on whatever you’ve plugged into the Smart Plug.
Amazon is also offering two other good deals that are available only through Alexa voice ordering. While Amazon is currently offering a Black Friday special on its Ring Video Doorbell 2 — $129 — Alexa owners can scoop up the doorbell for $30 less. The Blink XT2 security camera is also on sale for $25 less than the current Black Friday price, too, if you’re looking for a new security camera.
The ordering process is pretty simple, and Alexa will walk you through it (nearly the whole Smart Home team here at Digital Trends has already ordered one for ourselves!). Anything you purchase through Alexa is billed to your primary payment method on file, so be sure before you order to select the payment method you want to use.
These are by no means the only smart home deals available on Amazon. For a complete list, be sure to check out our roundup of the best deals. We’re updating it continuously all weekend.
