Fisher-Price Electronics for Pre-Schoolers

Toy Maker Fisher-Price can’t stay away from the gadgets any more than the rest of us: the company a plans to roll out a series of Kid-Tough branded “real” electronics for the preschool set, starting off with digital cameras and digital music players available in iconic pink and blue.

The Kid-Tough Digital Camera will feature sturdy handgrips, auto-flash, and a two-eyed viewfinder, making it easier for kids to snap pictures without having to do the one-eye-open, one-eye-closed thing. The camera features a 1.3-inch backlit LCD display enabling kids to instantly see pictures they’ve taken and delete shots (if they like), and kids can use the camera via simple icon-based controls. Pictures are VGA resolution (640 by 480), and the camera has 8 MB of built-in memory and an SD card slot for additional storage. The camera can transfer pictures to the computer via USB, and Fisher-Price says the design is tough and drop-resistant: you can find out for yourself this June when the camera goes on sale for $69.99.

Fisher-Price’s FP3 music player sports a simple interface with big buttons and visual icons, and will come pre-loaded with six songs and two stories: Fisher-Proce says hundreds of more songs and stories available for download from a forthcoming Fisher-Price Song & Story Online Store, or can be transferred from owners’ CDs. With little ones’ attention spans, it’s not surprising that the FP3 player has a capacity of about 30 songs or 15 stories, although an SD card slot adds more storage capabilities for a wider selection during those long car rides. The FP3 player will have a 1.4-inch backlit LCD screen, kid-friendly headphones, USB connectivity, and a break-away neck strap. No word on what audio formats the player may support, but it’ll be available in July for $69.99.

Apple TV: price, hardware, software, and more
Apple TV 4K hardware with remote and retail box.

Apple TV is the umbrella term for Apple's living room strategy. It encompasses hardware, software, and a streaming service, all of which share the "Apple TV" name. Or maybe you're talking about the Apple TV app, which is available most just on Apple TV, but also on other Apple products.

It gets a little confusing, perhaps. But that's where we come in.

Blink, an Amazon-owned company that produces a wide variety of smart home gadgets, today announced the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera. The affordable device clocks in at just $99 yet manages to offer 1080p video capture, 2,600 lumens of LED lighting, motion detection, and several other premium features.

While Blink’s catalog is comprised of several indoor and outdoor cameras, this is the company’s first true floodlight. Previously, homeowners needed to purchase a Floodlight Mount for the Blink Outdoor Camera, and even then they would only benefit from 700 lumens of LED lights. The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera, meanwhile, is a standalone product that doesn’t require a secondary purchase -- pick it up for $99, and you’re ready for installation.
