The arrival of Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters is right around the corner, and Marvel Studios seems intent on making sure excitement for the film is running high through this week’s Comic-Con International in San Diego and right into next week’s big premiere with a pair of clips from the much-anticipated cosmic adventure.

The first two clips from the film put star Chris Pratt front and center as Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star-Lord), the rogue adventurer who must rally a ragtag group of reluctant heroes to save the galaxy from Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), a dangerous agent of an even more dangerous threat to the universe.

In the first clip, Peter Quill encounters Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) while attempting to steal a mysterious relic. The second clip is the full scene featuring Peter Quill, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) discussing Peter’s “plan” for stopping Ronan. This clip offers a particularly good example of the humor at the heart of the story and the characters’ very reluctant partnership, which both play a big role in the characters’ comic-book adventures that inspired the film.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1, and along with the aforementioned cast, the film also features Karen Gillan as the assassin Nebula, Michael Rooker as the alien Yondu, John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael, and Benicio del Toro as The Collector.

3 sci-fi movies on Peacock you need to watch in May
Vin Diesel and Karl Urban in Riddick.

Peacock does many things well, but its sci-fi section is sorely lacking. The science fiction films on Peacock are almost entirely comprised of knockoff blockbusters or embarrassingly bad B-movies. And instead of having a permanent library of Universal Pictures' sci-fi hits like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial or Back to the Future, Peacock's best science fiction movies tend to come and go inside of a month.

So for this month, when we say that these are the three sci-fi movies on Peacock that you need to watch in May, it's because they probably won't be around in June! Our first two picks fall into the realm of sci-fi action, while the third stands as a tribute to the late B-movie king Roger Corman.
