Marvel and Disney join forces with a tubby robot in Big Hero 6 clips from Comic-Con

After Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel Entertainment back in 2009, it seemed inevitable that we’d see a Disney-produced animated feature based on one of the Marvel Comics properties. What no one expected, however, is that the film would be Big Hero 6, the upcoming feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios that’s inspired by one of Marvel’s most obscure superhero teams.

And if the first trailer for Big Hero 6 wasn’t enough to have you looking forward to November, the sizzle reel that Disney premiered during New York Comic Con should do the trick.

Based on the Marvel Comics superhero team that debuted in the late ’90s and had a brief run in its own solo series, Big Hero 6 follows a young robotics genius named Hiro Hamada who teams up with a group of other brilliant science and technology prodigies to thwart a supervillain’s plot to destroy the city of San Fransokyo. Hiro is assisted by Baymax, his lovably dim-witted (but loyal) robot pal.

The sizzle reel features the new song “Immortals” which was recorded for the film by Fall Out Boy.

Big Hero 6 is directed by Oscar-nominee Chris Williams (Bolt) and Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh), and features the voices of Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, TJ Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Genesis Rodriguez, Daniel Henney, Maya Rudolph, James Cromwell, and Alan Tudyk.

The film hits theaters November 7.

A still from Dark Matter (2024) on Apple TV

Some of the best series on Apple TV have earned great reviews, yet none of them get talked about nearly as much as they deserve. That's why I have included three different genres in this weekend's binge list, which is based on a bestselling sci-fi novel, a beloved wine manga, and a true-crime memoir. The best part is that each one of these shows manages to outdo its source material's reputation on the screen.

We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best free movies, and the best movies on Amazon Prime Video.

Denzel Washington playing Macbeth in The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021)

Apple TV's original catalog is full of hidden gems that never got the attention they deserved, and this weekend's picks prove it. From a true story about two Black entrepreneurs outsmarting a racist system, to Denzel Washington's chilling take on Shakespeare's most ambitious villain, to a scrappy Dublin family finding harmony through music, these three movies span very different genres.
