Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge is a beautiful smartphone, but it’s not as edgy as we anticipated. The curve on either side of the screen is modest, and the subtle design has saved case manufacturers a major headache when it comes to construction. The metal-and-glass build isn’t particularly durable, however, especially when dropped from above. Thankfully, you don’t have to live on the edge — after all, a little protection can go a long way. Below are some of our favorite cases and covers for the S6 Edge, so you can add protection and style to your newfangled Samsung device.

Samsung’s official case boasts some pretty unique features, none of which you’ll find elsewhere on our list. The case is made of a single piece, one outfitted with a flip cover that grants all-around protection. The design reduces fingerprint smudges, and you can easily wipe away any blemishes that occur. When the front cover is closed, a cutout at the top also allows you to view the time, incoming calls, and a host of specified alerts. You can even interact with the notifications — without opening the case and exposing your display to the outside world.
i-Blason Halo Series Clear Case ($9+)
You can never go wrong with a clear case, especially if you love your phone’s design and color. The i-Blason Halo Series Clear Case provides everything you’d want it to, including a slim profile and crystal-clear transparency. The case’s TPU components also make for a tighter grip, and provide resistance to discoloration, even after prolonged use. The back of the case is always clear, but i-Blason has options that add a bit of color to the surrounding border, allowing you to outfit your phone with a touch of black, blue, or pink, if you’re in need of a little something extra.
Supcase Unicorn Beetle PRO Case ($17+)
Supcase’s holster case for the S6 Edge might be missing the built-in screen protector that’s come to define its peers, but all of the other perks and benefits to using this case are still present. The bumper and back cover provide shock absorption, impact resistance, and additional grip. It also has precise cut-outs for your phone’s ports, buttons, and speakers, as well as covers to help reduce the amount of dust, dirt, and other debris that might otherwise find its way into your phone. Then there’s the 360-degree holster, which attaches to a belt clip. The case does add a bit of bulk to the phone, but in the end, size is a small price to pay for keeping your phone safe and intact.
Cover-Up Woodback Case ($21+)
The Woodback collection from Cover-Up come in a wide variety of different finishes including Walnut, Maple, Mahogany, Black Limba, Cedar, and the list goes on. These are simple, slim, black polycarbonate cases with a wooden back panel showing off the natural wood grain of your chosen wood. The case is fairly minimal, with generous cut-outs. It won’t interfere with your normal use of the phone, but it won’t offer rugged protection either. It’s thin enough that it doesn’t impact on wireless charging either.

Spigen Neo Hybrid Case ($19-23)
This popular case reverses the usual polycarbonate and TPU combo by having the back panel in textured TPU, for added grip, and the bumper in tough polycarbonate. The button covers are also TPU and there’s a slight bezel around the front to protect the screen, and on the back to safeguard the camera lens. It’s a snug fit, the openings are precise, and this case looks more expensive than it is once it’s on. It should offer reasonable drop protection, but it’s not a really rugged case, so we wouldn’t put that to the test.
Skech Crystal Case ($14)
No one really wants to hide a beautiful design like the S6 Edge, so this transparent case could be tempting. It’s a more traditional one-piece combo, with a tough polycarbonate back panel, and has a flexible, shock absorbing frame with button covers built-in. The cut-outs are accurate, it’s slim, and it offers basic protection without encroaching on your phone’s style. There’s a lip around the front to make sure the screen is kept off the ground should you drop it.
Mophie Juice Pack Battery Case ($55-60)
If you’re annoyed at the limited battery life of the S6 Edge, then Mophie has the solution for you. The company’s Juice Pack Battery Case is a relatively slim case that provides an additional 3,300mAh, which is enough to double your phone’s battery life, allowing you to make additional phone calls, surf the web, or stream video once your phone dies. The case also has a switch on the back so you can easily toggle the battery pack on and off, as well as a set of indicator lights that show how much power is left. Fast charging still works with the case on, too, and you get a charging cable and headphone adapter in the box.
Verus Thor Case ($24)
Here’s a classic design featuring a black TPU inner that includes reinforced corners for good drop protection, and a polycarbonate back panel to add a contrasting splash of color. The button covers work well, the fit is good, and the openings are precisely where they need to be. The corners prevent the S6 edge from coming into contact with the ground and there’s a big TPU lip top and bottom on the front to safeguard the screen. You can get this one with a back panel in a variety of different colors. For an extra couple of dollars you can also get a holster with a swiveling belt clip that doubles up as a kickstand.
Noreve Tradition Leather Case ($55+)
It doesn’t seem right to envelop a beautiful phone like the S6 Edge in plastic. How about premium leather? Noreve crafts immaculate leather cases which come in a wide variety of different colors and textured finishes. This one is a classic folio style with a stud closure. Inside you’ll find a couple of pockets for ID or cards. There’s a sizable cut-out for the camera on the back, so no worries about any flash problems. There’s also a grill for the speaker on the front, so you won’t miss any calls. A thin shell covers the corners and holds your S6 Edge in place, and the padded leather around it keeps it safe from harm.

Case-Mate Naked Tough Case ($5+)
This transparent case provides a layer of protection, but you can still enjoy the curves of the S6 Edge inside it. It’s fairly slim with a hard back panel, and a malleable bumper frame that should dissipate the shock of a fall or knock. There’s a tiny logo on the back at the bottom, and the only other detail is the metallic accent for the button covers. The sides are slightly textured to add some grip. You’ll also find a tiny lip around the camera lens and the edges to keep the S6 Edge from coming into contact with any surface, but nothing that gets in the way of using your phone.
Piel Frama FramaSlim Case ($41+)
Here’s a handmade leather case that’s hard to resist. This is the slimmest leather case we’ve seen for the S6 Edge, and it achieves that by dispensing with the cradle inside and using an adhesive pad. There’s also a small suction cup on the cover that keeps it closed. You can actually talk on the phone with the case closed, thanks to the speaker opening at the top. Access to the sides is unrestricted, and there’s a large cut-out for the camera and flash on the back. You can also fold the cover and use it as a landscape stand. The quality is great and you can get this case in black or tan finishes. If you go to the Piel Frama website you’ll find a wider selection of colors, and some alternative finishes to choose from.

This protective case combines a polycarbonate shell with flexible synthetic rubber. The sides slope away, so that you can enjoy the Edge display, but the beveled edge of the case should stop it from coming into contact with anything. The button covers are easy to find, and the cut-outs are accurate. The tapered frame around the camera and flash prevents any light splash back. You can pick this case up in black, or in two-tone aqua and gray varieties. It’s a little chunky, but it should definitely safeguard your Galaxy S6 Edge.

Rearth Ringke Fusion Case ($10-11)
The Galaxy S6 Edge is one of the best-looking phones we’ve ever seen. This case, from Rearth, will help it stay that way, without hiding its beauty. It’s a crystal clear case, but it’s also quite protective, with built-in buttons, port covers, and a raised bezel to protect the screen and the camera lens. It combines a polycarbonate back panel, with a TPU bumper to absorb shock should you drop your S6 Edge. The microUSB cover is a little fiddly to remove, and it’s not really a rugged case, but it offers good value for the money.
Body Glove Satin Case ($10)
This is a nice, slim case that still provides the protection you need. It’s flexible and durable, with the ability to absorb the shock of an impact. The sides are tapered back, so you can enjoy your Edge features, and there are accurate cut-outs for the controls, ports, and camera. You’ll find this case is comfortable to handle, and it does add some grip. The brushed aluminum effect on the back panel is quite stylish, and you can pick this up in black, charcoal, blue, or pink.
Caseology Wavelength Series Case ($16-17)
Caseology’s case comprises two pieces — a hard, outer shell and a polycarbonate bumper — which should help protect your phone from the elements. The bumper is where most of the benefits come from, but the outer shell adds a bit of style and contrast, depending on the color. Combined, the two provide protection against drops and imbue the case with a durable, “satiny” finish. The wave-like pattern on the back of the bumper also gives you additional grip. It’s a case for those seeking something that’s slim, comfortable, and stylish. It comes in black, pink, blue, and mint.
Ballistic Tough Jacket Case ($15)
You may be put off by the bulky nature of this case, but it delivers on drop protection. The inner layer is malleable, with reinforced corners, and there’s a hard back plate that slips over the top. It’s drop tested at up to 6 feet, and the raised lips ensure that every angle of the S6 Edge is protected. The button covers are easy to find and press, and the openings are accurate. Just be aware that the corners may interfere with screen protectors. You can also get this one in plain black.
Olixar Shell Case ($7.50)
If you’re feeling a little short of cash after buying a new S6 Edge, then you may be tempted by a cheap case. This is a clear, polycarbonate shell that will suit minimalists. It doesn’t infringe on the Edge’s gorgeous design, but it also doesn’t offer much in the way of protection. It snaps on fairly easily, it has a little bit of flexibility, and there’s open access to all controls, ports, and functions. It will help prevent scratches on the back, and the corners are covered, but we wouldn’t expect this case to save your Edge in the event of a tumble.

This is a really slim case that combines a matte, soft-touch shell, in black or white, with an eye-catching, metal-effect back panel, in various colors. It’s a hard, polycarbonate shell, but the design is thoughtful. The cut-outs are generous and accurate, offering full access to ports and buttons, and there’s a gentle slope on the back to make it easier to use the heart rate sensor. The soft-touch finish is comfortable to hold, but it also enhances the grip. If you do drop it, there’s a lip to safeguard the screen, but this isn’t a really rugged case.

If you’re just looking for basic protection in a form that doesn’t mask that gorgeous design then Incipio’s aptly named Feather case is worth considering. It’s a snap-on polycarbonate case that’s rigid and hard-wearing. You’ll find the case curves away at the sides to ensure that the edges aren’t covered, and there are also accurate cut-outs for the buttons and ports. The generous camera opening has a special coating to ensure no flash splashback. You can choose from seven different colors and each has a matte, soft-touch finish.

Always one of our favorite cases, the CandyShell Grip delivers tough dual-layer protection and enhanced grip without being bulky and ugly. There are precise openings for the ports and camera, and easy to push button covers. The sides dip away to ensure that you can see the edges of the screen, but the lip top and bottom will protect the screen should your S6 Edge land face down. This case exceeds military drop test standards, so it’s ideal if you have butterfingers. You can pick it up in a few different color combos.

This is Trident’s maximum protection case and it’s an angular beast that definitely adds bulk, but it also offers rugged protection from drops and the elements, as well as a few handy extra functions. It exceeds military standards for drop testing, has dust filters, plugs to protect your ports, and it guards against rain and wind. You’ll also find a belt clip and holster and a lanyard loop to make it easier to carry your phone. On the back, there’s a kickstand for propping your S6 Edge securely in landscape view.
Tech21 Evo Frame Wallet ($30)
This lightweight folio-style case combines a few materials. The shell that your S6 Edge slots into includes Tech21’s trademarked “FlexShock” material which is all about dissipating impact force so it doesn’t damage the phone. There’s also a sleek, tough polycarbonate layer on the back, and the cover is common leather substitute, polyurethane. You’ll find precise openings for ports and the camera. The inside of the cover has a nice, soft microfiber lining and a single slot for a credit card or ID. It wraps around the case to close securely and it can fold back to act as a landscape stand.

Urban Armor Gear Ash ($20)
Here’s another case that meets military drop test standards. The familiar UAG design combines a hard shell with an impact resistant core, and there are skid pads to prevent the phone from slipping off surfaces. This case adds grip, the button covers are good, and the openings are precise. The case has curved sides to accommodate the S6 Edge’s curved screen, but it retains the standard reinforced corners. It’s surprisingly lightweight in hand, and you’ll also find a screen protector in the box to provide all-round protection.
