CruxCase, which specializes in making accessories for Apple’s iPad and iPhone, has launched a Kickstarter funding campaign with hopes that its latest brainstorm gets the cash it needs to see the light of day.
Dubbed the CruxEncore, CruxCase’s latest is essentially an iPad Air case that turns your svelte slate into a convertible notebook. Constructed with anodized aluminum and polycarbonate, the CruxEncore ships in two colors; black and white (both pictured). The CruxCase CruxEncore features a 360-degree hinge that allows you to use it in one of three ways: tablet mode, laptop mode, and movie mode. The latter mode requires you to fold the keyboard back, essentially using it as a stand while you’re watching your clip of choice.
The CruxCase CruxEncore also includes a full QWERTY keyboard, a 360mAh battery with an included Micro USB cable, Bluetooth 4.0, and a self-locking hinge. Measuring 9.65 x 7.28 x .78 inches and weighing 1.45lbs, the CruxCase CruxEncore will slap on a considerable amount of bulk to your iPad Air. However, if it delivers on what it promises, many people may be happy to sacrifice some portability for all of the functionality that this case offers.
With 39 days to go in the CruxCase CruxEncore’s Kickstarter campaign, it currently has the support of 26 backers, and $1,035 has been pledged towards CruxCase’s goal of $90,000 as of this writing.
We find the CruxCase CruxEncore to be pretty intriguing. We’ll provide updates on the CruxCase CruxEncore if and when it reaches certain funding milestones, as well as its ultimate funding goal.
