Netflix testing a new web interface that is just for kids

Netflix Kids UI TestNow your children don’t have to suffer because you decided to cancel your cable. Netflix is testing out a new kid friendly interface to help kids find the shows they want to watch. The images show a drastically more fun and visual interface. To access the page you would select the just for kids tab at the top of the page and you will be able to see all of the watch instantly options.

Of course you won’t find Mad Men in this area of the website, but you will find Dora, Hello Kitty, and Shawn the Sheep. When you enter the kids section the website removes almost all of the written descriptions of the shows, and focuses on the characters. You will see a row of main characters at the top of the screen which you can scroll through to pick who you want to watch. Once you select your show of choice you will be able to select what show or movie featuring that character you would like to watch.  This new interface could be a great way for kids who still don’t know how to read to have access to their favorite shows just through clicking on their favorite character.

Netflix Kids UI TestThe new interface is only available for the service’s watch instantly titles, so you will not be able to rent physical discs using this page. With over 75 percent of new customers opting for streaming only it is understandable that Netflix would focus on that audience.

We can see this more visual option also working on adults as well. We would love to be able to scroll through pictures of our favorite action stars to help us select exactly which movie to watch.

The RTX 50-series may fix the biggest weakness of its predecessor
Nvidia Blackwell chips.

Nvidia's RTX 50-series is still largely a mystery, but the occasional leak keeps the hype alive. And this time, it's gaming laptop enthusiasts who have reason to be happy. According to Moore's Law Is Dead, Nvidia's Blackwell laptop GPUs are receiving a much-needed boost to the memory interface, implying that Nvidia may have learned from its past mistakes.

Although rumor has it that Nvidia may be aiming to launch the first RTX 50-series desktop GPUs in the final quarter of 2024, we've heard very little about these graphics cards that didn't come from leaks. We've heard even less about their laptop counterparts, but it's possible that those will come later, as NotebookCheck reports that Nvidia may be delaying those models.

Report: High RAM prices will continue to skyrocket
Product shot of the Crucial DDR5 memory modules on a blue background.

DDR5 RAM has become the new standard for most consumer-grade PCs and laptops. While DDR4 is still around, the first DDR5 chips came out in 2018. However, the standard was officially released in 2020, and actual commercial kits made their first appearance by mid-2021. Back then, a kit of twin 16GB sticks at DDR5-4800 speeds launched at a price tag of $311. That’s more than three times the price of what you'll pay today.

But that may change soon as DDR5 RAM prices are expected to continuing increasing in the coming months. Analysts from market research firm TrendForce suggest that the primary reason for this surge is being attributed to the manufacturers who are reallocating resources toward the production of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM).
