iPhone 6 accounts for 30 percent of all Q4 phone activations by businesses and governments

According to Good Technology’s Mobility-index report for the fourth quarter of 2014, the Apple iPhone 6 wasn’t just popular with regular folks, but with businesses and governments as well.

The report looks at its clients, which are businesses and governments, who activated at least five handsets during the quarter.

Along with the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple’s latest smartphones accounted for 30 percent of all activations in the last three months of 2014. Between the two handsets, however, the iPhone 6 was the more popular choice, garnering 77 percent of total activations between the two.

Over on Android, Samsung dominated the number of activations, having nine of the 10 most activated Android handsets during that quarter. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was the top choice, with the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 also on the list.

Overall, iOS was the more dominant mobile operating system during those last three months, accounting for 73 percent of new activations, an increase from 69 percent in the previous quarter. Android, meanwhile, accounted for only 25 percent of new activations, a decrease from 29 percent in the previous quarter.

Alas, Windows Phone and Surface activations only represent 1 percent of the total, with BlackBerry not included in the report due to its sole use of the BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES), which is the company’s corporate email service.
