Nokia Intros "L

Is your mobile phone an extension of your personality, an expression of your unique style? And plastic, fake chrome, and gunmetal grey don’t really do anything for you?

Well, phone maker Nokia wants to ring you up with it’s new L’Amour Collection of three new phones aimed at the style- and fashion-conscious set. Each phone, expected to be available in Europe in early 2006, might be light on features compared with 3G smartphones, but that’s not the point: these phones are intended to combine natural materials, colors, styling, and details with craft aesthetics, cultural and ethnic influences, and attention to detail. The L’Amour Collection is aimed at trend-forward individuals for whom mobile phones are not just a means to be heard, seen.

HMD Global is releasing the Nokia G300, its most affordable 5G phone yet, and possibly one of the cheapest ones to ever launch in North America. Releasing on October 19, the phone will cost $199 and come in a charcoal color. However, it can only be purchased from the sellers Tracfone Wireless and Straight Talk Wireless. Nokia's already announced and released six other phones across three series in 2021.

“We take pride in creating life-proof phones that you can keep for longer thanks to the durability of our devices inside and out," said Cristian Capelli, vice president, North America, HDM Global. "What we have achieved with the Nokia G300 is an elevated yet affordable 5G smartphone with a two-day battery life, meaning you and your family don't need to be chained to a charging cord, and you’ll have more time for the things that matter."

New Nokia G50 signals HMD Global’s leap into affordable 5G phones
Nokia G50 held in hand.

HMD Global has joined the ranks of smartphone companies launching really affordable 5G phones with the new Nokia G50. It costs $299 or 200 British pounds, putting it up against devices like the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, the Realme 8 5G, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G.

It’s obvious from this list that HMD Global is up against considerable competition, so what does the Nokia G50 offer? The specification will be a familiar one if you’ve been following the low-cost 5G phone trend recently. The processor inside is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 with matching 5G modem, and a choice of either 4GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage, or as a 6GB/128GB version.

Nokia completely revamps budget phone lineup, launches 6 new models
nokia c series g x news hero

Nokia is shaking things up a bit. Its parent company, HMD Global, has announced a total of six new Nokia-branded handsets across three news series of smartphones, with two devices in each series. The new phones will replace Nokia's current budget slate and will set the stage for future Nokia phone series that push into the higher-end. These announcements come alongside the company's new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), which it is launching in the U.K.

The lowest-end series is called the C-Series, and its phones will range in price up to around $130. Next is the G-Series, which will have phones ranging between around $110 and $300. Last but not least is the X-Series, which will have phones costing $250. Safe to say, none of these are truly high-end phones.
