First ‘HarmonQuest’ trailer brings us an animated D&D adventure with Dan Harmon

If you’ve ever wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons with Dan Harmon, Seeso has the next best thing. The comedy streaming service is bringing HarmonQuest to subscribers this month, a series that features Harmon and some of his famous comedian friends — not to mention animated versions of them — as they engage in the fantasy role-playing game. Seeso dropped the first trailer today, and as you’d expect, it looks like a fun romp guided by their creative minds.

The trailer makes it clear that the series isn’t taking itself too seriously; the group of comedians may have performed in front of a large studio audience, but they seem like any old group of friends hanging out, right down to their huge supply of snacks. As the trailer says, they are there to “act out [Harmon’s] role-playing fantasies and flex their comedy muscles.”

The animation makes the trailer even more entertaining. Each comedian has a lookalike character, dressed for D&D, and the visual makes it easier for the audience to follow the story’s progression. We see how the group’s quest doesn’t always go smoothly, for example, like when they are out of sync on just how a scene should play out.

Harmon’s quest-mates are a hilarious group, of course. He is joined by Erin McGathy (Harmontown), Jeff Bryan Davis (Whose Line Is It Anyway?), and Spencer Crittenden, who has worked with Harmon on Community, Rick and Morty, and more. Special guests also participate, including Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Steve Agee (The Sarah Silverman Program), Paul F. Tompkins (Best Week Ever), Ron Funches (Undateable), John Hodgman (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley).

The series, which is adapted from a segment on the podcast Harmontown, premieres with all 10 episodes on July 14.

Everything you need to know about Severance season 2
Mark, Dylan, Irving, and Helly in the Lumon office on Apple TV+ series Severance.

In February 2022, audiences discovered the mysterious world at Lumon Industries with the premiere of the Apple TV+ sci-fi drama Severance. At Lumon, several employees undergo "severance," a medical procedure that separates your work memories from your life on the outside ("outies"). Severed employees ("innies") cannot remember anything about themselves once they enter work. The severed employees essentially live two different lives.

Season 1 follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and his co-workers, who all underwent severance. When a new employee named Helly (Britt Lower) joins the company, Mark begins to question Lumon's motives, which may or may not be sinister. Severance season 1 premiered to universal acclaim from critics, resulting in 14 Emmy nominations. Season 2 is on the way. Here's everything we know so far.
Is there a release date for Severance season 2?

7 best 1990s crime movies, ranked
Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger in L.A. Confidential.

The crime genre has been alive since cinema's inception. Like most other film genres, crime is at its best when exploring new and different themes, pushing boundaries, and defying conventions and expectations. It's also great when combined with other genres, especially thriller and drama, although unexpected combinations with romance and sci-fi have also birthed unexpected classics.

Reaching new heights during the New Hollywood wave, it saw a new rebirth during the 1990s, thanks to the rise of independent cinema. Crime movies from the '90s are gritty, aggressive, sexual, explicit, and refreshingly daring, true subversive works of art that have stood the test of time. Many great crime movies came out during this pivotal decade, but these are among the absolute best, genuine modern gems that perfectly represent the genre.
