Trailer for Netflix bull-riding documentary ‘Fearless’ will make you hold on tight

Fearless - Main Trailer - Netflix
Good documentaries have a knack for getting their audiences excited about a subject they might have otherwise never been interested in, and that certainly looks to be the case for Fearless, the upcoming bull-riding documentary series that will debut on Netflix next month.

The first trailer for Fearless was released this week, and it offers an early peek at the series’ exploration of professional bull riders and the sport that takes them around the world, competing in an exceptionally dangerous activity that lasts mere seconds and can cost them dearly.

Andrew Fried, the showrunner on the Emmy-nominated series Chef’s Table was also behind the camera for Fearless, which follows American and Brazilian bull riders as they challenge each other and themselves in competitions across South America and the United States. Their efforts culminate with a heated competition at the Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas.

While the series focuses on the riders, the bulls will also get their time in the spotlight, as the series’ official synopsis indicates that, “at the heart of the series are the 1,500-pound celebrities, each bull with its own distinctive personality and athleticism.”

Netflix has been on a roll lately with the documentary programming its acquired, which includes the Oscar-nominated Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom and What Happened, Miss Simone? and Emmy Award nominee Chef’s Table. Other recent documentary pick-ups include the politically themed The Square and the fascinating chronicle of a now-defunct minor league baseball team in The Battered Bastards of Baseball.

Fearless premieres August 19 on Netflix.

Promo art for Parasyte: The Grey.

It may be spring, but it's also alien invasion season on Netflix. And while 3 Body Problem deals with that premise in a very high-concept way, it's been unseated from the top of the list of Netflix's most popular shows by a new South Korean series called Parasyte: The Grey.

Parasyte: The Grey is based on the popular manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki, which has previously been adapted as an anime series and two live-action movies in Japan. But you don't need to know anything about those to enjoy Parasyte: The Grey. This is a separate story that features its own characters, and it's clearly catching on with fans around the world. That's why we're sharing three reasons why you should watch Parasyte: The Grey on Netflix.
It's the story of a girl and her alien

A man aims his camera in Scoop.

Thrillers come in all shapes and sizes. There's the psychological or serial killer thriller, which was popularized in the '90s by The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en. There's the erotic thriller, which had its heyday in the late '80s and early '90s with such hits as Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct. And then there's the action thriller, which is probably the most popular offshoot of the genre right now, with the Taken series and Salt as prime examples.

Recently, there's been a revival of a subgenre that's been dormant since the 1970s: the journalism thriller. From Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal to the Oscar-winning Spotlight to 2022's She Said, this type of thriller usually centers around journalists pursuing a controversial and sometimes dangerous story. One of the best journalism thrillers has just been released by Netflix: Scoop. In chronicling how the BBC managed to snag the scoop of the decade by interviewing Prince Andrew about his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the movie manages to be suspenseful, informative, and one of 2024's most purely entertaining films.
