Being stuck at home with more free time than you know what to do with can get boring fast. You know what you need? All-you-can-eat gaming courtesy of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It’s available right now for $1 for the first month, offering unlimited access to hundreds of must-have games — new and old — like Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto V.

The only catch? Well, you’re almost certainly going to need to budget for the full $15 per month after the first month, as it’s a compelling package of gaming options that changes month in, month out — with more titles added by the week. When it comes to Xbox One deals, this is one of the best out there.

Still unsure of throwing $1 at a new service? There are a lot of great games available for that $1. For one thing, there’s the full catalog of Xbox Exclusives like Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4, State of Decay 2, and the entire Halo franchise, available on-demand. Microsoft Xbox Game Pass Ultimate means you get access to all new Xbox exclusives the day they release, so you’re always on top of the latest hits.

Other games include big hits like Minecraft, NBA 2K20, and Mortal Kombat X. Fans of indie games will be delighted too with gems like Terraria, Hollow Knight, and Descenders also featured. It’s a great platform for the whole family with plenty of Lego games, Rocket League, and other fun titles on the list.

Think Netflix for Xbox gaming and you’re not far off when it comes to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It’s a service that inevitably saves you money as you won’t need to buy new games as often as before. At a time when we’re all stuck indoors, it’s super useful to have so many games to try out at the click of a button. New games are added on a regular basis, too, with monthly updates ensuring there’s always something new to play.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is available now for $1 and it’s sure to be worth the price, assuming your internet connection can handle plenty of downloads between now and next month.

Just make sure to cancel it before the renewal date if you don’t want to pay a cent more than a dollar.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s Stranded mission had me hooked for hours, yet left me wanting more
I spent hours sneaking through North Korea, scavenging supplies, and clearing outposts, and I’d happily do it all again.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Stranded mission gameplay

For years, Call of Duty’s campaign mode has used big, scripted set pieces to tell the overarching story amid all the adrenaline-pumping action. The 2023 Modern Warfare 3 tried to shake up the established formula by introducing a handful of short open combat missions, and I genuinely liked the idea, but the game's overall negative reception seeped into how those missions were received.

I feared the next iteration might abandon the idea because of the backlash, but I am glad it didn't. MW4’s “Stranded” mission uses the same approach, but instead of fragmenting it across the campaign, it puts it all in a single large-scale open-world mission.

Acer’s first gaming handheld to launch in the US arrives November 1 with Intel Arc G3 Extreme hardware.
Intel Arc G3 Extreme Hands On with Acer Predator Atlas 8

Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 finally has a US release date and price, several months after the company first showed off the handheld in May. The highlight is the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip inside, which has been adopted by only a couple of other consoles besides the Atlas 8. This version will go on sale exclusively at Best Buy on November 1 for $1,299.99.

Acer originally said the Atlas 8 would arrive in North America in October, but left pricing open at the time. The launch came amid the ongoing DRAM crunch, which has made memory more expensive across the PC industry and complicated pricing for hardware makers.
